Top 10 Cars According To You
The 10 cars that are the most highly thought of by their owners
10. Toyota Hiace
Passenger vans are a pretty niche market in the UK, panel vans… not so much, but it’s no surprise to see that Toyota are producing solid, practical and reliable cars. The recurring theme among the Hiace reviews is reliability. These workhorses just don’t seem to want to stop running, a valuable trait for minicab and delivery drivers...
9. Jaguar XJL Autobiography
Spoiler alert: there is no Audi A8, BMW 7 Series or Mercedes-Benz S Class further up the list. Users have voted strongly in favour of the Jaguar XJL, making it the best-rated executive limousine among owners in the Regit database.
8. Mitsubishi L200
The Hiace, the XJL and now the L200? There’s a recurring theme of cars being built to fit a purpose, and it’s clearly earning high regards. The L200 is more suited to tackling the building sites than ferrying people on nights out or escorting high-level businessmen around though. Again, it seems like reliability and build quality have put the L200 in such high esteem among owners...
7. Vauxhall Vectra
Didn’t see this one coming, if we’re honest. The Vectra has been out of production now since 2005, that’s over 12 years ago, yet owners still seem to love them. You do still see an awful lot of them on UK roads, to be fair, but nobody in the Regit offices anticipated the Vectra to still be one of the most loved cars in the country.
6. Renault Scenic
Very much a people’s champion, the Scenic (and Grand-Scenic) are family carriers which boast flair, practicality and affordability. Naturally, buyers have flocked to the Scenic since its inception all the way back in 1996. The continuous 5-star reviews over the last 21 years mirror the impressive and steady sales figures year on year.
5. KIA Carens
A much-improved effort from KIA with their latest Carens has seen the MPV soar to second in the table. Consistent 5-star reviews are generally attributed to the Carens’ spaciousness, value for money and the usability of the third row of seats. It’s worth noting that this is the highest scoring 7 seater according to owners.
4. Volkswagen Up!
The city-car segment is actually somewhat new to the UK, as ‘supermini’ hatchbacks have expanded in size, these ‘city-cars’ are now occupying the market that the original Mini and Fiat 500 used to dominate. Interestingly, even though the much-adored MINI and Fiat 500 exist in current forms, Volkswagen’s Up! Remains the city-car king. Consistent 5 star feedback from buyers and owners is difficult to argue with.
3. BMW X6
Another surprise entrant is the BMW X6. The X6 fancies itself as a bit of a marmite-car. Some people think it looks big, mean and angry, while others think it’s trying too hard and is somewhat ugly. Owners clearly love it, though. Consistent full-marks from buyers suggest that perhaps the doubters should give the X6 a test drive before passing judgement?
2. MINI Clubman
When MINI first announced that they’d be expanding their portfolio to include cars other than just the MINI Hatchback, eyebrows were raised. 10 years on, the Clubman has cemented its place on UK roads and within the MINI showroom. Buyers approve of the hidden rear doors which provide better access to the rear seats than the hatchback does, and buyers also value the bigger boot with the taller roofline.
1. Vauxhall Viva
Who’d have thought it? Goes to show just how much the motoring journalists know! The Vauxhall Viva didn’t get a particularly warm reception from the motoring press upon its return, but our users clearly don’t care. Buyers and owners of the Viva have been keen to let us know their thoughts on the Viva, and they’ve averaged a full 5 stars.
Interestingly, the Viva and the Vectra make Vauxhall the only manufacturers with more than one model featuring in this list. Turns out Britain may still have that soft spot for Vauxhall after all.
