Top 10 Feel Good Summer Cars
A run-down of what’s hot for the summer months this year
10. Mercedes-Benz SLC Roadster from £32,774
The Mercedes SLC Roadster is beautiful to look at and will definitely turn heads. Mercedes state you can drop the roof in around 20 seconds with the touch of a button and standard features include comprehensive safety tech, body-hugging sports seats, air con & LED daytime running lights.
9. MINI Convertible from £20,085
Another quirky little run around comes in the form of the MINI Convertible, which has generated a cult-like following since its inception. The MINI can be credited for striking the balance whereby if the heavens open, which they often do in the UK, the MINI is still very well refined with the roof up, and barely feels different to the hatchback. With the MINI you obviously get the compact dimensions, razor sharp handling and iconic aesthetics.
8. Audi TT Roadster from £33,315
The TT is now available in its 3rd generation and, arguably, the best looking. The TT has inherited the front fascia of the Audi range, which is bolder, wider and more direct than previous models. While the old TT always received a bit of flack for being ‘a bit girly’, naysayers will have to be a bit more creative if they wish to do a good job of discrediting this new TT. We love it. Best served in TTS form, but standard models start from £33,005.
7. Mazda MX5 from £19,495
Who thought for a second that this car wasn’t going to be on this list? Attractive, zippy, affordable and rewarding. The MX-5 ticks all the right boxes when it comes to having a great time with the roof down. This latest model is the best yet, too. You could give an MX5 to a multi-billionaire who is more accustomed to Bugatti and Lamborghini, and he or she’d still fall in love with the MX-5 once sat behind the wheel.
6. Jaguar F-Type from £57,790
The most attractive convertible on sale right now? We’ll let you decide. The F-Type is just as amazing to hear as it is to look at. The smooth V6 petrol engine has a truly raucous exhaust note that will tear through the valleys as you plant your foot down on a Welsh B-Road, motoring perfection… Sorry, I’m just doing some daydreaming. Onwards.
5. BMW Z4 from £37,115
The brand new model is a timeless classic. It now has a wider stance, a new Honeycomb kidney grille, and elegance that will turn heads on any road. Lowering the soft-top roof takes only 10 seconds, and can be done at up to 31mph.
The Sport model is available as standard, it impresses with split twin exhausts, LED lights, and the all important soft-top roof.
4. Audi A3 Cabriolet from £30,520
A good option if you’re thinking of getting a convertible but you don’t really want to sacrifice the practicality of your hatchback. The boot size is reduced by 60 litres, to 320 litres, which isn’t dramatic and the rest of the A3 Cabriolet is just as functional as the A3 hatchback, which is certainly one of the best in class.
As per the Audi badge, you also get a gorgeous interior, solid reliability record and a strong dealership network. Plenty of perks...
3. Mercedes-Benz C-Class Cabriolet from £39,109
It’s one of the latest models to enter the Mercedes range, which has been overhauled progressively over the last 2 years or so. This new model has the styling cues that exist throughout the Mercedes range and can easily be confused with an E Class Cabriolet, which can be sometimes confused with the S Class Cabriolet.
Luxurious interior, elegant exterior, a range of solid engines and it’s a brand new car this summer - do you need any more reasons?
2. BMW 4 Series Convertible from £41,495
A direct competitor to the C-Class Cabriolet, the 4 series drives best-in-class. The 4 series is best served as an M4, but stick the M-sport package on a regular model and you’re in one of the best looking drop-tops on the market right now. Even equipped with the 2.0 diesel engine, the 4 Series is a driver-focused car that’s a genuine joy to drive and own.
1. Porsche 718 Boxster from £46,651
The Boxster from Porsche is a definite head turner, the pure two seater offers gorgeous looks inside and out. Achieving 0-62 in 5.3 seconds, which can be lowered to 4.7 seconds with a Sport Chrono Package, fuel consumption isn't as low as you'd expect either, Porsche claim up to 32mpg. What's not to like?
