10. Porsche Macan: 398 miles
The Porsche Macan, already crowned Top Gear's Electric Car of the Year, just got even better with a new single-motor, rear-wheel drive model. It's 110kg lighter than its all-wheel drive versions and boasts a range of 398 miles from a 100kWh battery. But, as you'd expect from Porsche, it’s still all about performance, delivering 355bhp (with launch control) to the rear wheels. You can also choose from three other versions: the Macan 4 (402bhp/381 miles), Macan 4S (509bhp/376 miles), and the powerful Macan Turbo (630bhp/367 miles).
9. Polestar 3 Long Range: 403 miles
Polestar is rapidly expanding gaining momentum, and the new 3 is no exception. It comes in three versions, all equipped with a hefty 111kWh battery. The base single-motor model delivers 403bhp and offers up to 403 miles of range. The mid-range dual motor version steps it up to 483bhp with 392 miles of range, while the sportier Performance Pack version cranks out 510bhp, though its range drops to 348 miles. Prices start at £69,900, with the dual motor costing from £75,900, and the Performance Pack an extra £5,600.
8. Polestar 2 Long Range: 406 miles
The Polestar 2 got a facelift in summer 2023, and the biggest upgrade is its improved range. The entry-level standard range single motor version now features a 69kWh battery that offers up to 339 miles (up from 275 miles). The long range single motor version has also been upgraded to an 82kWh battery, giving it a range of up to 406 miles (up from 336). Not too shabby!
7. Peugeot E-5008: 415 miles
This is one of the rare electric SUVs that can actually seat seven people, and it’s about to get a significant battery upgrade, adding around 100 miles to its range. Plus, you can choose from different power outputs, and the interior is super comfy, featuring the i-Cockpit, a large panoramic roof, and plenty of space—around five miles worth!

Porsche’s first all-electric car, the Taycan, is getting even more impressive in 2024 with a major facelift that boosts power, range, and charging times. It now has a larger 105kWh battery (up from 93kWh), allowing the rear-drive version to go up to 421 miles on a single charge—a 35% increase. Plus, with 320kW charging capability (that’s 50kW more than before), you can charge from 10% to 80% in just 18 minutes, compared to 37 minutes for the old model. Pretty wild, right?

Volkswagen’s first all-electric saloon is fixing some of the issues from the earlier ID models, and it can go further than any of them too. Its sleek coupe design helps achieve a low drag coefficient of just 0.23Cd, boosting its range. You can choose between two versions: the ‘Pro’ with a 77kWh battery that offers 381 miles, or the ‘Pro S’ with an 86kWh battery that claims a whopping 436 miles. Say goodbye to range anxiety!
3. Fisker Ocean 'Extreme': 440 miles
The Fisker Ocean SUV comes in various trims, starting with the base 'Sport' model, which features a single motor and front-wheel drive with up to 288 miles of range. At the top, the 'Extreme' model packs a dual motor, all-wheel drive setup and a 113kWh battery that can deliver an impressive 440 miles. However, things aren’t looking great for the company: in March 2024, they cut prices again from $61,499 to $37,499, and by June, they filed for bankruptcy for the second time, facing debts of up to $500 million (£393m). Ouch!
2. Mercedes EQS 450+ AMG Line: 511 miles
Sure, you could take the train from London to Edinburgh (332 miles), but who wants to deal with public transport? Instead, why not chill in the Mercedes EQS electric limo? After its facelift, it can now go up to 511 miles in its most efficient setup—an increase of 51 miles from the previous model. That’s thanks to a bigger 118kWh battery (up from 108kWh). The current range champion comes from Lucid, a Silicon Valley brand, with its Air electric saloon that can reach up to 516 miles in its top spec. You’ll have to choose from four variants: the entry-level Pure with 473bhp and 410 miles of range, the Touring with 612bhp and 425 miles, and the powerhouse Sapphire, which has a three-motor setup, cranks out 1,184bhp, hits 0-60mph in under two seconds, and tops 200mph.
