So, I have decided to dip into this one litre petrol Ford arena.
If you know, you know, the ecoboost engine gets a bad reputation. When you look into it, it?s not the cars fault.
It?s the servicing.
Wet belt engines deteriorate the timing belt, which is immersed in oil. They need an annual service to remove deposits from the oil and to ensure the oil pump and its associated workings remain in good order.
They also need a timing belt replacement every ten years.
To which end, our ex Ford master technician has stripped this one to replace the timing belt.
The parts list is extensive and includes
New oil pump
New timing belt and oil pump belt
New crank bolt
Removal and replacement of all filters, even the little ones that are actually inside the engine
All seals including injector seals
Remove and refurbish brake vacuum pump
I watched in awe for a while as this engine was taken to bits?
10 hour job.
The result is like getting a new one.
As it should be, perfect in every way.
I give a 12 month nationally approved warranty on the ecoboost.
If you have read this far you probably going to buy this car, viewing essential, she is finished in panther black with black 1/2 leather upholstery, sat nav, tidy 17 inch ST line alloys.
The Focus has two keys and a comprehensive service record now, she has only covered 57k miles.
I?ve always shyed away from this but believe me the 1 litre Ford will be fast becoming a mainstay at Carwhinley. Now we can undertake the preventative maintenance that these need so you can get a belter of a car.
