Top 10 fastest selling used cars of 2023

Selling a used car can be a challenging process, requiring meticulous efforts such as capturing appealing photos, crafting precise descriptions, and dealing with inquiries and test drive requests. However, if your vehicle happens to be among the most sought-after models, the experience can be remarkably swift.

Auto Trader, has reported that the top 10 most in-demand car models of 2023 took a mere 18 days or less to sell. The standout performer was a Ford SUV, which found new owners within an average of just 13 days.

Skoda Karoq SUV Diesel 1-3 years 17.5

Mercedes-Benz GLA Class SUV Petrol up to 1 year 18

Notably, the petrol-powered Ford Kuga claimed the title for the quickest sale last year, with sellers sealing the deal within an impressive 13 days on average. This is half the time it typically takes for other models, with the average second-hand car in 2023 requiring a month to sell, according to Auto Trader's data.

Following closely behind the Ford Kuga, the Mercedes-Benz A-Class hatchback hybrid secured the second spot, selling within an equally impressive 14 days. The A-Class Saloon, equipped with a plug-in hybrid powertrain, claimed the third spot with an average selling time of 15 days.

Interestingly, three models from the premium German brand Mercedes-Benz made it to the top 10, with the GLA petrol SUV securing the tenth spot, boasting an average sale time of 18 days.

Kia also showed its popularity, featuring three models in the fastest-selling list: the previous-generation E-Niro and the current Sportage hybrid and Niro hybrid, selling between 16 and 17 days on average, ranking fourth to sixth in the league table of fastest-selling models.

The data also highlighted that six of the top 10 fastest-selling models in 2023 were alternatively fuelled vehicles, including two all-electric models - the Audi e-tron and the E-Niro.

Surprisingly, older models, such as the Audi A3 hatch and the existing Skoda Karoq diesels, aged 15 years or more, completed the top 10 order. This suggests that despite the significant decline in new diesel registrations, there remains a demand for these older diesel vehicles among second-hand buyers.
