Looking at the 2025 Dacia Duster or Bigster? Find out which offers better value, more space, and the right features for your needs.

Dacia Duster vs Dacia Bigster: Which SUV should you actually buy in 2025?

Dacia’s just dropped a bigger, bolder SUV – the Bigster – and yeah, it looks a lot like the ever-popular Duster. But don’t let the looks fool you. These two are built for different types of drivers, and depending on where you’re at in life (and what you’re hauling around), one might make a lot more sense than the other.

So, what’s the deal with these two budget-friendly beasts? Let’s break it down.

Dacia Duster vs Bigster: Design & Space

At first glance, they’re practically twins. Both have that chunky, rugged look with upright grilles and sharp LED headlights that wouldn’t look out of place on something way more expensive. But step to the side and the Bigster lives up to its name – it’s over 22cm longer than the Duster.

What does that mean for you? Way more room for mates in the back and loads of extra boot space for gym bags, weekend getaways or even a few suitcases if you're airport-bound.

  • Duster boot: 425–585 litres
  • Bigster boot: 612–677 litres

Rear passengers also get more legroom – 243mm in the Bigster vs 204mm in the Duster. So if your friends are on the tall side (or you’re constantly moving stuff), the Bigster might be a game-changer.

Interior & Tech: Which Feels More 2025?

Inside, they’re pretty similar – straightforward and user-friendly. But the Bigster’s cabin has a few neat upgrades. There’s a taller centre console with a sliding cover over the cupholders (small things, big vibes), and it starts at a higher spec than the Duster.

That means:

  • No super-basic model without an infotainment screen
  • 10.1-inch touchscreen as standard
  • Heated seats, dual-zone climate control, and a 360-degree camera included

If you want that kind of kit in a Duster, you’ll have to go for one of the top trims. So while both interiors are simple and practical, the Bigster’s extras make it feel a little more grown-up and ready for anything.

Performance & MPG: Pretty Even Playing Field

Both SUVs kick off with a 1.2-litre petrol engine (mild hybrid) and a six-speed manual gearbox. The Bigster edges it slightly with 140hp versus the Duster’s 130hp, but let’s be real – they both get the job done for everyday driving, whether it's the city commute or the occasional road trip.

Want an automatic? You’ll need the hybrid version.

  • Duster hybrid: 1.6-litre, 140hp
  • Bigster hybrid: 1.8-litre, 155hp

And fuel economy? Surprisingly close – even though the Bigster’s bigger, it’s actually slightly more efficient:

Engine Duster Bigster
1.2 Petrol FWD 51.4 mpg 52.3 mpg
1.2 Petrol AWD 46.3 mpg 47.1 mpg
Hybrid 56.5 mpg 61.4 mpg

Price & Deals: Which Is More Affordable?

Here’s where the Duster pulls ahead: it’s properly affordable. Prices start at under £19,500, while the Bigster kicks off just over £25,000. But keep in mind that lower price comes with a much more basic spec.

If you compare like-for-like (both in Expression trim), the price gap shrinks to around £3,500.

Want to lease instead?

  • Duster: from £255/month (with £2,600 deposit)
  • Bigster: from £314/month (with £3,200 deposit)

Basically, you’re paying a bit more for the Bigster’s size and better standard kit – but for some, it’ll be 100% worth it.

Verdict: Which One’s Right for You?

Both the Duster and Bigster give you a ton of SUV for your money. If you're just starting out, live in the city, or don’t really need loads of space yet, the Duster is a smart and affordable choice. It’s great for solo drivers, couples, or small families.

But if you're thinking long-term – like road trips with friends, lugging music gear, or future-proofing for growing responsibilities – the Bigster’s extra space and kit might be worth the extra cash.

Either way, Dacia’s proven once again that you don’t need to spend a fortune to drive something cool, capable and genuinely practical.
