Audi Centre Maintenance: Audi Health Check
Audi Centre maintenance and repair ensures that a vehicle is reliable, safe and pleasant to drive. Manufacturer services include the free Audi Health Check.
The specialist inspects a range of components within five categories: interior, e.g. instruments, seatbelts and horn; exterior, e.g. lights, bodywork, wiper blades and mirrors; under bonnet, e.g. fluids, belts and battery; brakes and suspension, e.g. pads, discs and dampers; and underbody, e.g. steering and tyres. Each area is colour coded based on condition.
Red indicates an item requires “immediate attention”, amber that it needs care “in the near future” and green that it is “at its best”.
Cam Belt
Audi recognises that some parts require particular care. The cam belt, for example. It explains it is “one of the hardest working components in an engine”, (and is) “made from a rubber based compound that deteriorates”.
On this basis, it should be replaced after a specified time/mileage. Audi says that “cam belt replacement is a complex job - but by entrusting your car to us you can be confident that the work is being done by experienced Audi trained technicians.”
Audi offers a fixed price cam belt service for any privately owned model which is three years old (or higher).
Brake Fluid, Transmission Fluid & Tyres
Brake fluid has to be replaced too. Audi says it “absorbs moisture over time” (which reduces) the temperature at which it boils. The manufacturer warns that “this could result in increased stopping distances, reduced braking efficiency and even brake failure”.
As with the cam belt, this type of maintenance is available for a fixed price on any privately owned vehicle at least three years old.
Furthermore, the transmission fluid – which cools and lubricates its surrounds - becomes less effective over time and should be changed. Audi says it is also important to periodically replace the tyres so a car brakes, accelerates and steers properly.
Air-Conditioning
Air-conditioning should be “serviced every two years to make sure it’s running at maximum efficiency”, the manufacturer argues. Technicians top-up the coolant gas and inspects some of the most important components.
Between such services ultrasonic treatment removes microbial, fungal and bacterial particles “so the air in your car is as pure as it should be”.
Once again, such work is available via a fixed price for an older, privately owned, vehicle.
