How To Renew The Photo On Your Driving Licence (Aged Under 70)
The photocard licence has to be renewed every 10 years to ensure it continues to reflect your appearance. The cost is £14 and the update should come through the post within a week. You can apply online at www.gov.uk/renew-driving-licence. To succeed you must:
- have a valid UK passport
- be a resident of Great Britain
- pay by MasterCard, Visa, Electron, Maestro or Delta
- confirm where you have lived for the last 3 years
- have your current licence (or an explanation as to why not)
- confirm your National Insurance Number
- not be disqualified from driving
How To Renew Your Driving Licence (Aged 70+)
Once you reach the age of 70, your licence has to be renewed every 3 years. There is no charge for this service that can be accessed via www.gov.uk/renew-driving-licence-at-70. To succeed you must:
- have a British licence that has expired (or will within 90 days)
- be a resident in Great Britain
- meet minimum eyesight requirements
- not be prevented from driving for any reason
The new licence should arrive within a week.
