BUYER BEWARE…. The actual process of buying the low mileage (9700) one owner car that I chose from Ashridge Vehicles was fine. The problems began when I discovered the car had been involved in an accident and repaired very badly, so badly that it will need to be repaired again, properly! The problems include runs and debris in the paintwork on both sills, poor application of stone chip and overspray where it shouldn’t be. There were also various pieces of trim falling off including lower body mouldings, an inner door handle and a moulding along the top of the door. Trim had also been damaged due to careless removal and broken clips, which should have been replaced during reassembly, were not replaced. As the weather got warmer (car purchased in January) another problem became apparent…. One of the lower door mouldings separates from the door leaving a gap of at least 5mm when it gets hot in direct sunlight. Then, when it cools, it goes back to its normal position. This damage was caused by careless removal. Ashridge Vehicles state in their own words that “all of our vehicles are cleaned and maintained to the highest standards” and they are also RAC approved. None of that has helped me. I asked Ashridge Vehicles to contribute to the cost of the repairs but they were not interested and explained that most used cars have had bodywork repairs of some kind. That surprised me, especially as the car I bought had only covered 9700 miles. Also, in a response to another review that I left elsewhere, Ashridge Vehicles stated that my car “in truth isn't that bad at all”. You can take a look at the pictures (easy to find elsewhere on the internet) and make your own mind up on that one! The car I have bought from Ashridge Vehicles, and trying to deal with all its problems, has left me stressed, upset and severely out of pocket to the sum of £1600. If you are considering buying from Ashridge vehicles I suggest you take someone along who knows cars inside out and will be able to spot any poor repairs, or even better, buy somewhere else.
