I purchased an Approved Used MINI from Cotswold MINI Hereford on 29 January 2025 with the expectation that a manufacturer-backed programme would provide a high level of quality and reliability. Unfortunately, just over a year later – and at around 45,000 miles – the vehicle suffered a catastrophic high-voltage battery system failure and became completely immobilised. The vehicle had to be recovered to the dealership and has now been sitting there for over a month without resolution. Despite the vehicle being undriveable, I am still required to continue making my monthly finance payments and maintain insurance, while being left without the use of the car and without any replacement mobility provided. The vehicle has a full MINI service history and the failure occurred only seven days outside the Approved Used warranty period. The dealer’s own diagnosis confirmed an internal high-voltage battery fault requiring significant component replacement with a quoted repair cost of over £10,000. What has been most disappointing is the lack of urgency in resolving the issue. Over a month later, there is still no clear outcome while the matter is passed between the dealership, MINI UK, and MINI Financial Services. When purchasing through a manufacturer-approved programme you expect vehicles to be durable and issues to be handled efficiently if something goes wrong. Being left without a vehicle for an extended period while still paying for it is extremely frustrating. I hope this matter can still be resolved fairly and promptly, but at present the experience has been very disappointing.
