AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE
In august 2025 we purchased a car from Midland Motorhouse. Baring in mind they knew I was pregnant and had two very young children that would be in the car. Well it has single handedly been the worst thing we have ever done.
The day of picking the car up it was knocking, took it back they said book it in to be fixed and they’d pay. 5 days later the car started losing power and juddering when doing 60mph. Contacted them, they said book it in for both issues and they would claim it back on the warranty. £1,400 these repairs cost; NOX sensor, track rod ends and Cat converter.
These repairs did not solve the juddering/ losing power issue. In fact it developed many many more issues over the next few months including:
Knocking
Engine light
Emissions fault light
Filter blockage light
Failed handbrake
Heater fault
Vehicle cutting out
Oil leak
Losing power and juddering
Burning smell
Since then, on multiple occasions the car has completely lost power on duel carriageways and main roads with children in the car. It stunk of burning and kept randomly cutting out.
They agreed to have it back to ‘repair’ themselves. Khalid who was dealing with our sale blamed us for causing an oil leak and cracking the gear box. This was later confirmed by their mechanic not to be true, we didn’t hear off Khalid after that and Dale was then our point of contact from there.
After them having the car for THREE MONTHS they returned it still with an oil leak and no under tray.
We requested a return and full refund which they refused. We also requested a refund at a £1,500 loss, they refused this and offered us less than half of our money back.
When doing the school run one day the hand brake failed, we were having to park the car against kerbs until it was fixed.
On Christmas Eve the heaters got stuck on full blast so we had no choice but to completely disconnect them, in the freezing cold and frost we had no heaters until my partner fixed it himself.
We had battery issues where the car was dead every time we got up in the morning resulting in a new one.
Midland motorhouse booked the car into Citroen as a last resort, they diagnosed it with a couple of issues but said they couldn’t guarantee that this was the cause of the juddering. They did the repairs and the issues continued; juddering, loss of power, burning smell, DPF warning, Engine warning.
We have had to cancel holidays, weekends away, stay in during half terms, inconvenience multiple family members with having to do school runs. In the time that they had the car in for ‘repairs’ I had a baby, missed newborn appointments and suffered from extremely bad mental health issues due to the stress of not having a car postpartum with 3 children.
The total list of repairs the car has had since purchase is:
Track rod ends
Cat converter
Cat fittings
NOX sensor
Turbo
DPF regen
Heater resistor
Rear calliper cable
Cooling fan control unit
Rocker cover gasket
New battery
2 new tyres
Tracking
We emailed a formal complaint to them with a request for a partial refund/compensation for all of the trouble caused.
After them going on about how the trade price of the car is now only about 2 grand (assuming they were just thinking about profit when they sell it on) they eventually agreed a partial refund and said “as a good will gesture” they would offer £500 more than they originally offered, still putting us at a loss of £2,500. We declined this, but as we were so desperate to just get the car gone we accepted a £2000 loss. We had to drive the car for an hour back to them in limp mode for this partial refund.
We have received no ounce of compassion from Midland Motorhouse and not even so much as an apology, not even on returning the car. We have been way more than patient and fair with them and have quite frankly been treated appallingly, considering we were sold a car in such a state.

The competitive price for my car that this car dealer was offering, was the first thing that caught my eye. I never knew about the existence of this company, until their cars popped up on autotrader. I have since heard of numerous individuals within my circles that have purchased motors from midland motorhouse, and have had nothing but great experiences with their cars.
I was extremely excited about purchasing my car from them, but there was a part on the car that I wasn't too happy about. I asked for a discount on the price, without first realising they do not haggle or compromise on price. I completely understand why - because their cars are pretty immaculate - however I wasn't truly happy buying the car with this faulty part. (I must add, the part wasn't broke, it just wasn't up to scratch for me to part with my money.)
Midland declined to lower the price, however, they did replace the part for me as quickly as they could. They were very communicative throughout the whole time my car was being fixed and rang me whenever there was an update on the progress.
One of the owners dealt with me personally for many hours, despite how busy I'm sure he must have been. He understood I needed the car ASAP and did all he could to get the vehicle back from the mechanics garage as to me as quickly as possible.
I've also had multiple meetings with Michael, the salesman, and it's been a pleasure every time. He was not pushy and didn't try and sales tactics or mind games with me about the cars he was offering. He spoke to me and answered any and all questions I had, but also left me alone to looks around the car myself without hovering over and distracting me from my inspections. Probably the best car salesman I've ever dealt with.
All in all, a very good experience with midland motorhouse, and I definitely plan to call them/look through their catalogue of cars in the future when I'm in the market for another one.
10/10, happy customer!
