Perrys Colne

Perrys are the main Vauxhall dealer in Colne. We used them recently to service a Vauxhall Astra. Prior to the service we had heard a 'grinding' noise coming from the front wheels and pointed this out when the car went in for service. We asked them to check out the brakes, thinking that this was the cause of the noise. However, when the vehicle came back the noise was still there, causing us some concern. The paperwork that came with the vehicle indicated that the brakes had been checked and were okay with wear of 60% and 40% respectively. Also, the check box tick list indicated that the first aid kit and high visibility vest had also been checked and were okay also. Strange that - we don't have either ! The vehicle was used the next day to travel approx 200 miles on the motorway. The same (return) journey was again done 2 days later and the noise was worse than before. We took the vehicle to a local ATS garage who inspected the brakes and, to their horror found that one of the front brakes was down to the metal and had no brake pad on at all. The oppositte side wasn't much better. BUT - then he showed us a rear tyre that had a large bulge in it that, he said, could blow at any time, possibly causing an accident. We were appalled at this information and went straight back to the garage to complain. Obviously this service had not been done to a descent standard. From a main dealer, with the prices they charge you expect a proper service, especially the brakes and tyres. And especially when we asked them to pay particular attention to the brakes and check them due to the grinding noise.Needless to say we wont be using this garage again and advise other motorists to think carefully about using them. And also to check any work they SAY they have done AND charged you for.
