Extremely disappointing experience We purchased a car from this dealership and have had an extremely disappointing and costly experience. We had the car for less than 12 months before it suffered a major engine failure. The engine was replaced under warranty by one of the dealership’s approved garages. Unfortunately, we have since discovered that the engine replacement appears to have been carried out very poorly. The clutch subsequently failed due to water corrosion, which we were told was a result of the way the replacement engine had been fitted. Last month, the car also failed its MOT, leaving us with no choice but to spend around £500 on repairs just to get it through. Then, just one week later, the clutch failed. We have now been left with a car that has had a replacement engine, an MOT repair costing around £500, and a failed clutch — all within less than a year of purchasing it. Ultimately, the car became uneconomical to repair and we have now had to scrap it. What makes this particularly upsetting is that the engine replacement was carried out under warranty by a garage approved by the dealership, and we are now facing the consequences of what we were told was poor fitting of that replacement engine. The car was purchased for our 18-year-old son, who is now having to start all over again and try to find and pay for another car. After everything we have already spent, this has caused a huge amount of stress, inconvenience and financial expense. We fully understand that buying a used car comes with some risk and that mechanical problems can occur. However, having such serious problems within less than 12 months, including a replacement engine that was fitted under warranty and then a clutch failure apparently linked to that work, is extremely disappointing. We would strongly urge anyone considering purchasing a vehicle from this dealership to make sure they carry out thorough checks and carefully consider the warranty and after-sales support before committing to a purchase. A very disappointing experience from start to finish.
