Frankfurt Motor Show 2015 - 10 Stars of the Show
A quick flick through some of the hottest new vehicles coming out of the Frankfurt Motorshow
10. Mercedes C 63 AMG Coupe
Mercedes’ sleek new C 63 is positioned firmly to steal some of the BMW M4’s thunder. Arriving in March 2016, Mercedes are yet to release a price, but it is widely expected to be slightly more than the saloon, with the S variant coming in just shy of £70,000.
9. Alfa Romeo Giulia
Alfa’s new Giulia certainly has a lot to offer. Replacing the aged 159, expect the super-saloon to take on the likes of BMW’s 3 Series, Jaguar’s XE and Mercedes’ C Class. Setting a new record for a saloon car round the Nurburgring, it is powered by a V6, 3.0 litre turbo and can hit 60 in just 3.9 seconds. Expect it in showrooms in 2016
8. Porsche Mission E concept
You might be surprised to hear that whilst the Mission E concept may look like something out of a sci-fi movie, Porsche want it on sale as soon as possible - potentially as early as 2017. Boasting a massive 592bhp, this all electric saloon clearly has its eyes on snatching some of Tesla’s Model S limelight.
7. Audi S4
Audi debuted the all-new S4 in Frankfurt, packed with more power, less weight and a new turbocharged engine. Going up against the likes of Jaguar’s XE S and BMW’s 340i, the S4 delivers a cool 349bhp. You’ll find it in showrooms at the start of next year.
6. Jaguar F-Pace
As Jaguar’s first SUV, the F-Pace has a lot to live up to. It’s been designed to sit “somewhere between the Audi Q5 and Q7” models and rival the likes of BMW X5 and Volvo’s XC90. Expect to see the new Jaguar in showrooms in April 2016, priced from £34,170
5. Bugatti Vision Gran Turismo
Sadly, the only way you’ll be able to drive the Vision Gran Turismo, is, as the name suggests, on Gran Turismo 6. Why build it then? Well, Buggati have said the Vision GT previews the next phase of exterior design. Expect Bugatti’s next hypercar - the Chiron, in 2017.
4. Vauxhall Astra
Arriving in November 2015 from £15,295, the new Astra has a transformed nose with LED matrix headlamps, which is a first for Vauxhall, and the new Astra will boast an all-new engine line up too with turbo-charged 3 cylinder units on offer. There is still no word on a new VXR Astra but they’ll have their work cut out as they have traditionally tried to compete with the Ford Focus, who’s RS version is a class (and about 50hp) above the rest in its segment.
3. Bentley Bentayga
Bentley has described the Bentayga as “the fastest, most luxurious and most exclusive SUV in the world.” With a whopping 600bhp and 900NM of torque, Bentley’s first claim is certainly true as their new SUV will get from 0-60mph in 4.0 seconds and go on to 187mph.
2. Renault Megane
Renault’s new Megane has been unveiled in Frankfurt and goes on sale at the end of this year. The all-new fourth generation hatchback has one main objective - to tempt buyers away from the likes of the Focus, the Golf and the A3.
1. Nissan Gripz
As a pioneer of the Crossover/ SUV sector, Nissan is used to setting the standard. And that’s exactly what their designers were thinking when engineering the Nissan Gripz concept. Infused with some of Nissan’s famous ‘Z’ car DNA, this SUV sheds some light on the direction they could take next.
