KIA have started off 2017 with a bang after introducing their SUV event for January.
4. The KIA Soul
This is most compact package of the KIA SUV family and comes with plenty of kit. From base-spec there is air-con, electric mirrors, roof rails, DAB radio and central locking. The Soul is also bringing back the two tone paintwork, which we like a lot. You can get the Soul with a range of engine options and fuel economy ranges from 40mpg all the way up to 58.8mpg, which is very easy to live with…
3. The KIA Niro
We predicted upon launch that the Niro was going to upset the hybrid market and early indications show it is doing just that. The Niro is a low emission hybrid crossover that appeals to family buyers who want road presence, practicality and affordability. The Niro is longer, wider and has a bigger boot than the Soul and will return up to 74mpg on a motorway run. All of that makes for a great family car for a young family, and prices start from £21.295 which is competitive for a hybrid of this size.
2. The KIA Sportage
Getting bigger now… The Sportage is the second biggest of the KIA SUV family, although it starts at a more affordable price than the Niro, at just £18,250. Prices creep significantly to £31,995 for a very well spec’d Sportage with a surprisingly welcoming interior. The Sportage benefits from a very refined cabin, with road noise at a minimum and road presence at a maximum. The new model for 2017 features a host of interior and exterior upgrades that bring a refreshing mid-life makeover to the current Sportage model. Again, this is a medium-to-large SUV but it will still return you 61mpg when driven sensibly… impressive!
1. The KIA Sorento
Now, the grand-daddy, the Sorento. Not named after the idyllic seaside town in Italy, although the two do share similar levels of class and elegance. The interior of the Sorento will you make you write a letter of apology to KIA HQ for all your prior misconceptions. This is an interior on-par with (if not above) many premium manufacturers, BMW and Audi included. The Sorento does start at a steep £28,795, but this is a 7 seater car with a massive 605 litre boot and genuine off road capability if the terrain gets tricky. Naysayers will argue ‘well I could get a Range Rover Evoque for £30k’. We’ll assume they have no interest in rear-passenger space, luggage space and fundamentally getting more metal for you money.
