The Top 10 Cars According To You
The highest rated cars according to the average motorist, based on owner reviews.
10. BMW 5 Series - 4.280 out of 5
In at number 10! The long-serving 5 Series from BMW takes the 10th spot, heavily praised for its combination of luxury, comfort, equipment and performance - it is no surprise that this is a car that owners think fondly of. There’s a brand new 5 Series lined up for next year and you can read all about each different model of the famous ‘5’ here.
9. Audi A3 - 4.286 out of 5
Next up, at 9th place, comes from the premium hatchback segment. The A3 is, arguably, one of the most desirable hatchbacks on the market thanks to the luxurious interior, fantastic handling and (of course) the prestigious Audi badge. The A3 is available with both fast and efficient engines which tend to co-exist in the Volkswagen range too; petrol, diesel and hybrid!
8. Mercedes-Benz E Class - 4.319 out of 5
Another one from the big German manufacturers! The E-class is just about as much luxury as a ‘well-off’ individual can acquire on the current market, assuming the S-Class is for a whole new level of wealth. The E is an executive saloon which wastes no time with radical designs or gimmicks. It is a very well-constructed, smart, sensible and professional looking vehicle for senior executives. Most commonly found in prestigious golf club car parks, the E-Class is the epitome of german engineering.
7. Honda Civic - 4.327 out of 5
The benchmark for reliability. Honda has built their solid reputation on equally solid cars. There’s no surprise that Civic owners think so highly of their hatchbacks as reliability figures show they rarely ever offer any problems. The engines are efficient and built to last. The interior is spacious and practical, and every new Civic comes with features like rear parking sensors and Sat Nav as standard, which is nice! There’s a new model of the Civic coming next year which will be the eleventh generation. Yes, eleventh. Will it be just as reliable as those it supersedes? Yes, almost certainly.

6. Skoda Fabia - 4.333 out of 5
Since Skoda was bought by Volkswagen the brand has done a major U-turn in terms of quality, performance, reliability and desirability. The Fabia, which is based heavily on the Volkswagen Polo, is one of the most affordable and accessible Skoda’s on the market, only the Citigo is cheaper. Due to it’s Polo underpinnings the Fabia is brilliantly economical, with diesel engines exceeding 60mpg, and is suitably spacious - sharing the lofty cabin which makes the Polo a good choice for a daily family runaround. Even better, the Skoda range demands a cheaper price tag than the Volkswagen brand so you can get a real bargain - this goes some way toward explaining why owners like it so much!
5. BMW X3 - 4.333 out of 5
We’ll be honest, this one was a real surprise when we checked our database. The X3 didn’t get incredible reviews from journalists upon launch, some saying it suffered an identity crisis. It turns out though that in real life situations the X3 serves a good purpose. The car benefits from a nice high ride height which is good for elderly drivers who’d rather step into a car than drop-down in. The X3 also comes with X-Drive, making this a capable car on tricky terrains or snow. Then, of course, the X3 comes with the smart, functional and sophisticated interior which all BMWs pride themselves upon. This is a very clever all-rounder.
4. Hyundai i10 - 4.380 out of 5
All the user reviews in this list are based over the last 5 years, so Hyundai was bound to sneak in here because anyone who bought one of these in the last 5 years is still covered under their extensive warranty. The i10 starts at just £8,995 and is really well built, using simple mechanisms and processes which scarcely go wrong - and even if they did, there’s a warranty their to protect your wallet anyway! The i10 is one of the most affordable superminis on the market and boasts a modern exterior and a cosy interior too. If you’re looking for a nice little city runaround, the i10 is a good bet.
3. Skoda Yeti - 4.444 out of 5
Another Skoda! The Yeti is highly thought of due the extensive practicality benefits of having a massive boot with a high roofline. There is also quite a bit of ground clearance as well which translates to a higher ride height, this means that that it’s easier to get in and out of and all this is reflected by the massive success of the Yeti on the motability scheme. There’s a recurring theme with all of these cars in this list, which is that they are all very easy to live with. This is no different with the Yeti.
2. Skoda Superb - 4.541 out of 5
A third Skoda, this is getting ridiculous! The Superb is just that, superb. It’s a large family car which feels suitably premium but has an approachable price tag at the same time. The boot size extends up to a cavernous 1,760 litres of space when you fold the rear seats down, and if that isn’t enough then there’s an estate version too. In terms of economy, the Superb doesn’t struggle to return 68.9mpg from the 1.6TDi diesel engine with 150bhp, and the more powerful 2.0TDi with 187bhp doesn’t fall much shorter at 61.4mpg. For an affordable, luxurious, family cruiser there are fewer safer bets than the Superb.
1. Skoda Octavia - 4.567 out of 5
And last, but not least a fourth Skoda! Can you believe it? It may seem too good to be true, but i genuinely assure you that this list is based purely on statistics we have gathered and Skoda have in no way paid for this sort of praise. You can hold me to that, which is fine because it’s true.
The Octavia is a more affordable Golf in a Skoda guise, with a sloped rear hatchback, much like a saloon. The exterior is classy, the equipment levels are generous and the smallest petrol engine, the 1.0litre is surprisingly capable of hauling this classy car around. The Octavia is comfortable in all situations, whether it’s a long motorway jaunt or just the supermarket run - another great car that is very easy to live with.
