Airport car park fire breaks out at Bristol although fire crews quick to extinguish blaze

The runway was closed for a short time which led to minor delays although it reopened shortly afterwards.

A spokesperson for the airport said no one had been hurt and the blaze "was quickly put out by the emergency services".

A parked car caught fire in the open-air Silver Zone car park and spread to several vehicles although there were no injuries and the fire was extinguished by on airport’s fire crew.

It’s not clear what caused the fire although there are no suspicious circumstances and the damage done isn’t anywhere near the carnage that was caused by the Luton Airport Fire earlier this year.

However, some cars have still been written off with the fire service saying the damage caused to impacted cars ranged from 20% to 100%.

"We'll contact the owners of any damaged cars as soon as possible," added the spokesperson.
