Impatient driver jumps red light and narrowly misses child on bike

Police have released footage of an impatient driver who chose to jump a red light in Swindon despite schoolchildren already crossing.

One child had just about made his way over the crossing with the second only a metre or two behind when the driver chose to dart in between them whilst on their way to school.

The driver of the Mazda MX-5 has been given a £400 fine and six points on his licence after dash cam footage was used to prove his guilt.

The use of dash cam footage to convict motorists guilty of dangerous driving has been on the rise since Nextbase launched a partnership with the police to make it easy for other drivers to upload footage that can be used in prosecutions.
