Weight loss

It's time to clear out the coats, wellies, scarves and bags that took up space in your car during the winter months. Shed as much unnecessary weight as possible as surplus weight contributes to wasted fuel.

Spray away the salt

Again during the colder months, corrosion-causing salt from gritted roads can build up under your cars wheel arches and suspension. Avoid pricey bodywork repairs by using a pressure washer or a hosepipe to spray the wheel arches clean.

Test your view

Grime from traffic fumes entering the car through your demister can build up on the inside of the windscreen, so when there is bright sunshine it turns into a blinding glare. Spring clean your windscreen with water and a mild detergent, buff with a microfibre cloth and your vision will be restored. It's also a good time to check your wiper blades too for splits and cracks.

Stay cool

Air conditioning is essential for when the outside temperature rises, the special gas in air-con can eventually leak away, so you'll find if it gets too low, the air-con will blow out warm air instead of cold. The easiest way to test it is by turning the heater control to minimum, the fan to maximum and ensure the air-con is turned on. If there is no icy blast after a couple of minutes, this usually can be resolved quickly and easily with an air-con regas. Most garages offer an air-con recharge or air-con service.

Motoring maintenance

Doing these simple checks gives your car the best chance to complete another Spring and Summer of hassle-free motoring and keep you safer on the roads.
