Nice try! Motorist fined for displaying hand drawn tax disc

Police in Ireland have seized a car after a motorist displayed a hand drawn tax disc.

Physical tax discs have been abolished in the UK but displaying one is still a legal requirement in Ireland and this motorists thought they could get away with cheekily writing out their own.

But that wasn’t the worst of it – as the hand drawn tax disc it had expired!

The Gardai now say prosecution will follow for this driver while the Irish Transport Minister, Jack Chambers, said earlier this year that no decision had yet been made regarding a switch away from physical discs.
