Interesting stuff! The Skoda Yeti and Peugeot 3008 are playing 'snap' The purpose of this classic card game is to discover which is the best crossover vehicle. The entry-level 3008 1.6 VTi 120 Active – which costs £17,995 - opens proceedings by playing the five of hearts. The Yeti responds by presenting the five of clubs and 'snaps' its opponent. This is because the entry-level Yeti only costs £14,830 – a worthwhile £3,165 less than the 3008.

The Skoda Yeti E 1.2 TSI then wins a substantial pile of cards from its opponent. But why? This memorable crossover reaches 62mph in 11.8 seconds whereas the 3008 requires 12.3. Interestingly, the Skoda is faster despite having 105ps compared to 121ps. The Yeti also averages 44.9mpg but its slower rival only manages 40.9mpg. The Skoda also has lower emissions so it is kinder to the environment and cheaper to tax. Good stuff.

Hold on though. The Peugeot 3008 1.6 VTi 120 Active is claiming back some of its lost cards. It has seven seats rather than five, for starters, and its cargo capacity is much larger. So, the Yeti holds 416-litres of snap related memorabilia as standard - or 1,760- litres with the rear seats folded. The 3008's capacities are 679 and a van-like 2,506-litres. This workhorse also has an electronic stability programme to help it stick to the tarmac.

After hours of card play there is little to separate these crossover vehicles. Both have confident handling and impressive safety features, plus - of course - various pros/cons. Which is best depends on your needs. If seven seats and a huge cargo capacity are your priority – the Peugeot 3008 is the better choice. However, if you put more emphasis on value for money and low running costs, the Yeti could be your best friend. Snap anyone?
