Fully electric, futuristic, quick, and tough - is this what the future looks like?

Tesla Cybertruck: What we know

Remarkable! The Tesla Cybertruck is a futuristic, blisteringly quick, and immensely strong electric pickup truck and further details might finally be revealed by June 2021, CEO Elon Musk suggested. This is good news. Why? Because motorists have waited with bated breath for such news since the manufacturer first revealed its plans to build a truck. Let us see what we know so far.

Futuristic styling

The Tesla Cybertruck looks like no other pick-up on the road. It appears to have travelled back in time from the future. The bodywork is mostly flat, for starters. Furthermore, the door handles are flush with the bodywork, there is a huge windscreen, in-your-face wheels, and a single headlamp that spans the width of the vehicle. The pickup’s muscular stance further optimises its appeal.

Extreme strength

The Cybertruck is more than a fashion statement, though. It is extremely robust. Tesla confirmed that its stainless steel exoskeleton is ‘made for ultimate durability and passenger protection’. It is ‘nearly impenetrable’ and highly resistant to dents, other damage, and long term corrosion. Furthermore, this pickup truck has armoured glass throughout which is ‘ultra strong’.

Huge payload

The Tesla Cybertruck can carry a vast payload. It manages up to 3,500 lbs. Furthermore, the exterior cargo capacity is 100 cubic feet which is enough for a quad bike. The pickup also solves a problem that blights many trucks: security. Why? Because it has a strong tonneau that covers the bed so thieves cannot access valuables. The tonneau is lockable and ‘strong enough to stand on’.

Staggering speed

The Cybertruck is also very fast for a pickup. It has ‘more performance than a sports car’, the manufacturer suggested. Depending on the version, expect 0 to 60 mph in 2.9 to 6.5 seconds.

Further strengths

The Cybertruck has further strengths. These include:

  • air suspension can be raised and lowered (and self-levels)
  • 6 people can sit comfortably in the minimalist cabin
  • new user interface that operates via a 17” screen
  • full self driving (in due course via software updates).

The Tesla Cybertruck comes in multiple forms so expect a choice of rear or all-wheel drive, 0 to 60 times, range per-charge, and far more. The provisional information can be found via the table below.
