Car giant Stellantis, the group behind Vauxhall, Peugeot, Fiat and more, has announced another big safety recall. This time it affects 72,000 cars in the UK across seven of its brands.
It comes just weeks after nearly 100,000 Citroën drivers were told to stop driving immediately because of dangerous airbags. Now, there’s a fresh issue, a possible engine fire risk.

What’s gone wrong?
The recall affects 28 different models, mainly mild-hybrids with the 1.2-litre petrol engine built between 2023 and 2025. The problem is a loose fuel pipe that could leak and, in the worst case, cause a fire. Stellantis says there have already been 11 cases of fires in France linked to the issue.

Do I need to stop driving?
No. This recall is voluntary, unlike the earlier airbag one. Stellantis says you can keep driving your car, but you should book it into a dealer as soon as possible. The fix is quick, under 30 minutes, free, and simply involves tightening the fuel pipe nuts.
What happens if I ignore it?
While you won’t be told to park up your car immediately, ignoring a recall is risky. You could be fined up to £2,500 and get penalty points if your car is deemed unsafe. It could also affect insurance claims if something happens.
Basically, get it booked in and sorted.
How do I check if my car is recalled?
Owners will get a letter in the post, but you can also check online using your car’s registration. Click to check your car's recall status with Regit's free recall check.
How does this link to the airbag recall?
It doesn’t. This is a separate issue. Back in June, Stellantis told Citroën C3 and DS3 owners (2009–2019 models) to stop driving immediately because of potentially deadly Takata airbags. That recall left nearly 100,000 UK drivers without a car, with some still waiting on fixes.
This new recall isn’t as extreme, but it’s still worth getting sorted quickly.
