ULEZ map expansion

The ultra low emission zone, also known as ULEZ, has seen a significant ulez expansion in London, with Mayor Sadiq Khan facing pushback from neighbouring counties on this contentious policy. The ULEZ scheme requires that drivers of vehicles that produce higher emissions pay a ulez charge when entering the ulez zone, as indicated on the ulez zone map. This ulez fee is in effect 24/7, every day of the year, excluding Christmas Day. Vehicles that do not meet the ULEZ emissions standards and are not exempt must pay a daily charge of £12.50 for ulez fees to drive within the zone.

How to answer the question 'Does my car meet ulez?'

How to check if your vehicle is ULEZ compliant using the ULEZ car checker

To determine if your vehicle is compliant with the Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) regulations, you can make use of Regit's ULEZ Check tool, which is available for free. This tool allows you to enter your vehicle's number plate and perform a ULEZ car check, providing you with the necessary information regarding your vehicle's compliance status.

Check ulez compliance

In order to avoid incurring the ULEZ charge, it is important for your vehicle to meet specific emissions standards, commonly referred to as Euro standards. These standards play a crucial role in assessing whether your vehicle is compliant with the ULEZ regulations. By utilizing the ULEZ car checker, you can easily determine if your vehicle meets these emissions standards and answer the question, "Is my car ULEZ compliant?"

Different Euro standards apply to various types of vehicles. For motorcycles, mopeds, motorised tricycles, and quadricycles falling under the L category, Euro 3 is the applicable standard for ULEZ compliance. Petrol cars, vans, minibuses, and other specialist vehicles, on the other hand, must meet the Euro 4 standard in order to be considered ULEZ compliant. For diesel cars, vans, minibuses, and other specialist vehicles, Euro 6 is the required standard for ULEZ compliance, taking into account both nitrogen oxide (NOx) and particulate matter (PM) emissions.

If you own a newer model vehicle, it is important to verify the Euro emission standard information in section D.2 of your V5C registration document. This will allow you to confirm whether your vehicle is classified as a ULEZ compliant car. It is worth noting that larger vehicles such as lorries, vans, and specialized heavy vehicles weighing over 3.5 tonnes, as well as buses, minibuses, and coaches weighing over five tonnes, are not subject to the ULEZ charge. However, they are still required to pay the low emission zone charge. To determine if these larger vehicles meet the necessary emissions standards, a lez checker can be used.

By utilizing the ULEZ car checker and understanding the relevant Euro standards, you can ensure that your vehicle is compliant with the ULEZ regulations, thus avoiding any unnecessary charges.

How do you pay the ULEZ charge?

If you drive a non-compliant vehicle within the zone, you must pay the ulez fee by midnight on the third day following your journey or up to 90 days in advance to ensure ulez compliance. The ULEZ charge is set at £12.50 for cars, motorcycles, vans, and specialist vehicles (up to 3.5 tonnes), as well as minibuses (up to 5 tonnes). To manage these payments, you can use services like the ulez car check, ulez vehicle checker, tfl ulez check, or london ulez check.

It's essential to make payment through the official TfL website accessed via a provided link. Additionally, you can set up automatic monthly payments for congestion charges and ULEZ charges using the Auto Pay option. TfL offers a free app that allows you to pay the charges and conveniently manage the auto-pay feature.
