It occurred only a week following the damaging of traffic lights on the High Street

Police are in pursuit of ULEZ 'blade runners' following incidents where vandals severed traffic lights and an enforcement camera. The incident transpired just prior to 4 am on the 16th of January in Chislehurst, London, marking the latest wave of attacks protesting the ULEZ expansion.

This event comes on the heels of another incident a week ago when traffic lights were similarly dismantled on Chislehurst High Street. The Metropolitan Police have initiated an investigation, stating that inquiries are ongoing, but no arrests have been made.

In another recent act of defiance, ULEZ campaigners struck southeast London by cutting down an enforcement camera and replacing it with a Christmas tree. A member of the 'blade runners' previously conveyed to the Mayor of London: "We won't cease until you do. That's the bottom line."

A spokesperson from TfL expressed, "Vandalism is unacceptable, and all incidents on our network are reported to the police for investigation. Criminal damage to ULEZ cameras or vehicles puts the perpetrators at risk of prosecution and injury, while simultaneously jeopardizing public safety."

The spokesperson emphasised that camera vandalism would not impede the ULEZ's London-wide operation. All vandalised cameras are promptly repaired or replaced. The extensive camera network is deemed sufficient to support the scheme's effective operation.
