I would strongly advise anyone considering buying a high-end or performance vehicle from Hitchfield Car Sales to think very carefully before handing over their money. I purchased a Mercedes A35 AMG Premium Plus from them, and within the first 2 months of ownership the car started suffering from misfires and ongoing engine issues. From the moment I contacted the garage about the problem, the attitude completely changed. Instead of helping resolve the issue, I was repeatedly told to deal with the warranty company that they heavily pressured me into purchasing. The warranty company, Assurance Vehicle Warranty, was extremely difficult to deal with. Communication and claims handling were painfully slow and inefficient, and the cover itself was almost pointless. The warranty only covered up to £2,000, which is nowhere near enough for major repairs on a modern AMG performance car. On top of that, hardly any garages even want to deal with these warranty companies, so even trying to make a claim became a nightmare. Over £1,000 of my own money was spent trying to diagnose the issue through ignition coils, spark plugs, and fuel injectors before the real fault was discovered — a broken/cracked cylinder head costing £4,700 to repair. Despite the fault appearing within the first couple of months of ownership, Christian, the owner, repeatedly tried to put the blame onto us rather than accepting any responsibility or offering meaningful help. Even after bringing up the Consumer Rights Act 2015, the garage still denied liability and showed no interest in resolving the situation fairly. In my experience, once the sale is completed, customer service and support disappear completely. For a dealership advertising and selling expensive prestige vehicles, I expected professionalism, accountability, and proper aftercare. Instead, the entire experience felt focused purely on making the sale rather than supporting customers when serious problems arise. If you are spending serious money on a premium vehicle, I would personally recommend buying from a dealership that genuinely stands behind the cars they sell and values long-term customer trust rather than just the initial sale.

⭐☆☆☆☆ Very bad experience with Hitchfields Ltd I bought a used BMW X4 (2020) in June 2025. On the same day of purchase, the check engine light came on. I immediately informed the dealer, but contact with the company was extremely difficult – for weeks, no one responded to messages or calls. Only after I posted a negative but honest review did an employee named Mat contact me. Before that, it was impossible to get any response, yet after the review appeared, the reaction was immediate. Unfortunately, Mat acted dishonestly, telling me that if I wanted the issue resolved, I should remove the review. This clearly shows how trustworthy and professional this company is. Following Mat’s instructions, I returned the car to Huddersfield (a 7-hour drive one way). The car stayed there for about 4 weeks, during which time it was used without my permission – confirmed by the BMW tracking app. It was clearly being used for daily personal commuting (home–work). When I dropped it off, the fuel tank was full, but on collection, there was barely enough fuel for about 10 miles. After collecting the car, the check engine light came on again – the issue had not been fixed. Since then, the car has been checked by three independent mechanics, all confirming the problem is with the DPF (diesel particulate filter). The vehicle is now with a BMW specialist, who performed a detailed diagnosis and confirmed a cracked DPF core. The specialist advises against driving the car, as it could cause severe engine damage. The specialist can order a brand-new genuine BMW DPF and permanently resolve the problem, but Mat refuses to approve the repair, insisting that we must drive the car back to Huddersfield (another 7-hour journey) so they can “verify” the issue. This is completely unreasonable and unsafe. I refuse to do this because I no longer trust this company. Based on previous experience, I strongly believe they would not install a genuine part, but rather a used or cheap replacement. Previously, when the car was in their workshop for a NOx sensor issue, an independent mechanic told me that Mat tried to force him to use a cheaper replacement, but he refused and insisted on using an original BMW part. That was when I realized what kind of company Hitchfields really is. After all these events, I am determined to return this car and end all dealings with Hitchfields Ltd once and for all, to finally have peace of mind. This car was meant for my family, but it has brought nothing but stress, frustration, and disappointment. Do not buy a car from Hitchfields Ltd. Stay far away from this company – they cannot be trusted.
