12. SEAT Tarraco
SEAT have launched their first 7 seat SUV in the form of the Tarraco. It’s quite sporty looking, and it pulls off the SEAT styling cues elegantly making it a rather pretty car. Equipment and material levels are suitably high for the Tarraco and drivers will be happy to know that lane-keeping assistance is provided as standard, so too is pedestrian and impact sensors which aim to reduce or prevent collisions.
The Tarraco is available from a reasonable £28,230.
11. Volkswagen T-Cross
The T-Cross is the latest edition to the VW SUV range. This Polo-based SUV is sensibly proportioned with a good spec and practical enough to be put to daily use as a family car. Available with just a 1.0-litre petrol engine and front-wheel drive keeps costs low. Prices start at £16,995, rising to £25,055 for a sporty-spec R-Line with DSG automatic gearbox.
10. BMW X7
The X7 has landed and it's larger than a Range Rover. This luxury limousine sized SUV seats seven adults in comfort while being engaging to drive and oozing bags of luxury and technology. The X7 features include 21" alloy wheels, panoramic glass sunroof, roof rails, Merino black leather trim seats and BMW gesture control all as standard. The xDrive 30d model has a combined mileage of up to 33mpg, and a 0-62 time of 7 seconds.

9. Mercedes-Benz GLE
The recently facelifted all-new GLE from Mercedes slots into the model range between the GLC and GLS models. The car is longer, wider and lower than the previous model, and is now available with five or seven seats. Despite its size, the Mercedes GLE 300 d 4MATIC can complete the 0-62mph sprint in just 7.2 seconds and can deliver combined fuel economy up to 39.mpg.
Prices range from £55,710 for the GLE 300 d 4MATIC and from £62,300 for the GLE 450 4MATIC.
8. Range Rover Evoque
The new Evoque hasn’t strayed too far away from the design that made the first generation so popular. The overall silhouette of the Evoque stays mostly the same even though the bodywork is all-new. The styling changes are taken from the Range Rover Velar including the front grille. The cabin is drenched in high-quality materials and comes with plenty of gadgets too, with its Clearsight rear-view technology which basically turns the centre console into a high-definition rearview mirror angled towards the ground with a full 180-degree view - eliminating blind spots at the rear.

7. Hyundai Tucson N Line from £22,060
The facelifted Tucson from Hyundai rivals the likes of the Sportage, Qashqai and SEAT Ateca. 6. Audi e-tron
Audi joined the electric movement with its first fully electric e-tron model making it the most-advanced Audi yet. Sitting between the Q5 and Q7 in terms of size, the e-tron features the distinctive Audi wide front grille. Electric motors at the front and rear together produce 300kW of power, accelerating this SUV from 0-62mph in 5.7 seconds. The e-tron can go the distance too, on a single charge it can achieve a range of up to 237 miles.

5. Toyota RAV4
The all-new fifth-generation RAV4 has raised the bar once again. It’s the first RAV4 to be built on Toyota’s new platform which means better ride handling, driving fun and safety and the car boasts an all-new more mature and athletic style. 4. Land Rover Discovery Sport
The junior Discovery has recently been given a new lease of life, giving potential medium-sized SUV buyers another solid option to consider. Firstly, the new Discovery Sport has been gifted a more aggressive and stylish aesthetic keeping it in tune with the rest of the Land Rover range. The flush grille has been rolled out throughout the lineup, the interior tech has been improved and you can now order a brand new Discovery Sport as a hybrid.

3. Jaguar F-Pace SVR
Jaguar unleashed it's supercharged F-Pace all-new SVR in April, it produces 550PS, around 45 per cent more than the next most potent F-Pace engine. The 5-litre supercharged V8 engine propels you from 0 to 62mph in just 4.3 seconds with this comes leather sports seats in the front which are designed to hold you tightly in place. The body kit includes SVR front bumper, body-coloured door claddings, and rear bumper, further features include 21" alloy wheels and quad tailpipes. Naturally, high-powered SUVs are thirsty so expect a combined 22mpg.

2. Audi Q8
Audi's new range-topping Q-model has got everyone talking. The ‘Q8’ is the most tech-laden and impressive model of their whole SUV lineup. It has coupe-styling (a sloped roofline), massive gaping wheel arches, loads of sci-fi inspired lighting and of course a set of engine choices which promises serious performance. Prices start at £67,010 for the ‘entry-level’ S Line model and £86,905 for the top-spec Vorsprung trim. Both trim levels come with huge amounts of kit and onboard technology, of course, and at those prices the new Q8 places itself alongside the new BMW X6 and Mercedes GLE Coupe, which are the Audis two biggest competitors. Perhaps the best feature of the Q8 is the view from the driver’s seat. Naturally, in a premium Audi you are surrounded by high-grade materials, but in the Q8 you also have 3 HD screens to admire. A highly responsive digital dashboard, a neat and tidy centre display for your media and finally a third touchscreen to control the heating and so on. They don’t come much finer than this.

The New Volkswagen Touareg is bigger and better in every way. A primary strength is that it has a premium, luxury saloon, feel. Note the Innovation Cockpit, for instance. The 15” glass display screen in its centre is the size of a laptop, it can be customised with your favoured apps and is controlled by voice command, touch and by gesturing with your hand.
