The Fiat 500 la Prima Hatchback is a new, stylish, electric city car that can be reserved from June 8th 2020 in the United Kingdom. Its purpose is to excel in the city where roads are busy, life is fast, and drivers like to project ‘a certain image’. It therefore has a range of strengths to ensure it succeeds in this environment.

For starters, the Fiat 500 la Prima Hatchback is powered exclusively by a smooth electric motor. This means there is no exhaust pipe, so it cannot emit pollutants to damage the environment and cause health issues. It is therefore exempt from daily city emission charges, e.g. London’s Ultra Low Emission Zone.

Fiat 500 la Prima power, range, and charge times

The 87kW electric motor also ensures you have enough power to manoeuvre confidently in city traffic. Expect 0 to 31 mph in 3.1 seconds and 0 to 62 mph in 9 seconds. These figures are more than sufficient for the class. Furthermore, the maximum range per charge is plenty when cruising through the city. Expect 199 miles (up to).

Furthermore, the 85kW charge system ensures this city car can be recharged quickly. A fast charger can increase its range by 30 miles in 5 minutes, for instance. Fiat claims this is ‘more than the average daily commute’. In addition, it can charge the battery to 80% in 35 minutes. The 500 can also be charged at home at a slower pace via a ‘easyWallbox’ that comes in 2 forms. Pick either:

7.4kW (full charge in just over 6 hours)

3kW (slower, but unspecified charge time).

Further strengths

The Fiat 500 la Prima Hatchback has further strengths that guarantee it excels in the city. For example, choose the driving mode that best suits the circumstances and your personal preference. Normal Mode feels ‘as close as possible’ to driving a vehicle that has a ‘traditional combustion engine’, Fiat explained.

Range Mode, in contrast, enables you to predominantly drive using only the accelerator pedal. Why? Because the car slows – as if you braked – as you lift the accelerator. This makes life easier in traffic. However, you still use the brake pedal to completely stop. Finally, Sherpa Mode minimises power consumption to help you reach the destination set in the sat-nav (or the nearest public charger).

Further Fiat 500 la Prima strengths include:

 - Fashionable styling that includes a panoramic roof, rear spoiler, LED headlamps, 17 inch diamond cut wheels, chrome inserts on the side panels, ‘eco-leather’ upholstery, and attractive colours (Ocean Green, Mineral Grey, Celestial Blue)

 - Countless driver aids that make motoring safer and more relaxing in the city, e.g. the vehicle reads traffic signs then confirms the speed limit via a message on the dashboard

 - Features that keep you connected to family, friends, and colleagues such as a wi-fi router.

Price

The Fiat 500 la Prima Hatchback costs from £26,995 including the Plug-in Car Grant. This price includes an easyWallbox home charger.
