Changan’s Deepal S07 SUV arrives in the UK: 295 miles range, 215bhp, premium interior tech, and a seven-year warranty.

If the wave of new Chinese EVs hasn’t already got your head spinning, here’s another one to add to the list: the Changan Deepal S07.

The all-electric SUV crossover is due in the UK before the end of the year, packing a 160kW motor, 295 miles of range, and styling that feels a little Polestar 4 at the front, MG4 at the back.

Although built in China, the S07 has been designed in Turin and will be tuned and tested in Birmingham to make sure it feels at home on UK roads. Changan isn’t some new name either; it’s one of China’s biggest carmakers, with over 20 years in Europe.

Price-wise, the S07 starts at £39,990, which makes it more expensive than rivals like the Kia EV3 (£32,940) and Skoda Elroq (£31,710). Still, Changan is offering a 7-year/100,000-mile warranty and a 5-star Euro NCAP safety rating.

Performance includes a 215bhp rear-wheel drive setup, 0–62mph in 7.9 seconds, and an 80kWh battery that charges from 10–80% in about 48 minutes on a fast charger.

Inside, things get a bit flashy with a 15.6-inch rotating “sunflower” touchscreen that literally turns to face you, an AR head-up display with gesture controls, a panoramic roof, ambient lighting, heated and ventilated vegan seats, and a 14-speaker premium sound system with a driver’s speaker in the headrest.

Changan says the S07 has been adapted over 150 times for UK conditions, aiming to make it feel more designed for here than shipped from China.

The brand’s MD, Nic Thomas, summed it up: "The Changan Deepal S07 is designed to make electric driving accessible, enjoyable, and practical for UK consumers.

"It combines sleek design, intuitive technology designed around the customer, and real-world range with a price point that makes sense. We believe it will truly resonate with British drivers looking for a high-quality EV without compromise."

At launch, the S07 will be sold through 20 UK dealers, expanding to 50 by the end of 2025.
