Renault unveiled a prototype of its Master H2 Tech hydrogen van at the IAA Hanover commercial vehicle show. Zakaria Zeghari, Renault’s Vice President of Global Sales, announced that the production model will launch first in mainland Europe, with the UK following six months later, either in the second half of 2025 or early 2026.

Renault claims the Master H2 Tech can refuel in just five minutes and has a range of 700 km (435 miles). In comparison, Stellantis’ hydrogen van, which is already available to order, has a range of 400 km (249 miles). “We have a strong argument with this range,” said Zeghari, referring to the van’s competitive edge.

The Master H2 Tech will maintain the same load capacity as Renault’s diesel and electric Master models, with a maximum payload of 1,625 kg and load volumes ranging from 11.0 m³ to 22.0 m³. Renault’s hydrogen infrastructure will be supported by its subsidiary, Hyvia, which will supply the charging stations. “Hyvia brings the charging stations; we bring the van,” added Zeghari.

Zeghari also highlighted the UK's openness to green technology, saying, “The UK’s ecosystem is favorable, and large companies are keen on going carbon neutral.”

Also showcased at Renault’s stand was the Estafette, an urban delivery concept van developed through a joint venture with Volvo and CMA CGM Group. Designed for congested city streets, the Estafette is compact with a narrow width (1.9 m), short length (4.9 m), and a high roof (2.6 m), allowing easy movement between the one-seat cabin and the load area. Due for production within two years, the Estafette blends the Kangoo L2’s size, the Trafic L1H2’s load capacity of 7.1 m³, and the Clio’s turning circle of just over 10 m.

The rear shutter opens to the van’s full height, with no tailgate or swing-out doors requiring clearance space during loading. An automatic step unfolds when the shutter opens, making it easier to access the load area. Side sliding doors on both sides ensure safe and convenient unloading from the pavement.

Renault also displayed the Mobilize Bento, a microvan revealed at last year’s Solutrans CV show in Lyon. Zeghari confirmed that it will arrive in the UK by November 2025.
