10 new SUVs worth waiting for in 2024

While 2023 has been a busy year for new cars, it looks like next year is set to be even bigger in terms of new model launches.

An area of particular focus looks to be SUVs, with the popularity of these models not fading away. From budget 4x4s to luxury electric models, there is a whole range of exciting new SUVs due to arrive on sale in 2024. Let’s take a look at 10 models that could be worth waiting for.

Skoda Kodiaq

If you’ve wanted a practical and well-priced seven-seat SUV, the Skoda Kodiaq has been an excellent choice since its introduction in 2017. Next year sees the introduction of an all-new model, too.

Bringing a smart new design, the Kodiaq has been thoroughly modernised inside and out. There will also be a plug-in hybrid for the first time, bringing a claimed electric range of around 65 miles, though petrol and diesel models will continue to be offered.

Ford Explorer

Ford has been quite slow with its roll-out of electric cars, and a lot is riding on the introduction of the mid-size Explorer SUV next year. It’s already been delayed, but there’s hope that it will arrive by the middle of 2024.

It will be based on the Volkswagen Group’s MEB platform as part of a parts-sharing agreement between the two firms and promises plenty of interior space, technology and a good electric range.

Range Rover Electric

One of the most eagerly-anticipated new cars in 2024 will be the Range Rover Electric. Yet to be officially revealed, it will be Land Rover’s first EV and is expected to become a popular choice, especially given the desirability of the standard SUV.

It still hasn’t been unveiled in full, though expect it to look very similar to the standard model albeit with a few small visual tweaks. A huge battery is expected to deliver a range of more than 350 miles, as well as exceptional off-roading ability.

Volvo EX30

Volvo is stepping up its electric car game in 2024, with two new SUVs – the large EX90 and at the more compact end of the spectrum, the EX30. Arriving early on in 2024, this compact SUV promises plenty of performance, range and technology.

But the real draw to the EX30 will be its low price, which will substantially undercut key rivals.

Porsche Macan EV

Porsche’s electric Taycan is now one of the firm’s most popular cars, and high expectations are being placed on the incoming Macan EV due in 2024. Various hold-ups have delayed its introduction, but it’s expected to arrive on sale next year.

It will be built around new electrical underpinnings shared with Audi’s upcoming Q6 e-tron, and promises to be a tech-filled electric SUV offering a great driving experience.

Dacia Duster

A more budget SUV option due in 2024, and of particular importance, is a new generation of the Dacia Duster. It’s one of the most popular cars across Europe, and a new version is a big deal.

The new Duster promises to build on its predecessor, with enhanced off-roading ability with the 4x4 version, as well as a chunkier design and hybrid version for the first time. Dacia says it will continue to offer the ‘best value for money in its segment’, however.

Mini Countryman

Mini is set to have a busy 2024, with the introduction of a next-generation version of its popular three-door hatchback, as well as the launch of a new Countryman crossover.

It’s set to grow in size and offer more space inside as a result, while bringing a high-tech interior with a new circular touchscreen. The Countryman will also be available as an EV for the first time, with these versions arriving early in 2024.

Toyota Land Cruiser

The Land Cruiser is one of Toyota’s most iconic models and returns for a brand-new generation in 2024. It will be the first all-new version of this rugged 4x4 in more than a decade and promises improvements in ride and handling while still focusing on its traditional rugged strength.

For those not wanting an EV or hybrid, it will continue to be sold with diesel engines too, while getting a much more modern design inside and out.

Peugeot e-3008

The 3008 has been a huge seller for Peugeot over the years, and next year sees the introduction of an all-new version. Gaining a more coupe-like profile, it gains a striking new interior inspired by recent Peugeot concept cars.

It’s also an important car as it introduces a new Stellantis platform that allows for a host of innovations – including the fact the 3008 will be available as an EV for the first time, with an exceptional range of up to 435 miles promised.

Volkswagen Tiguan

There are some big new arrivals in the SUV world in 2024, and another important new launch will be the new, third-generation version of the Volkswagen Tiguan – the firm’s best-selling car globally.

This new Tiguan boasts an evolved design on the outside, but a striking new interior filled with technology. An enhanced plug-in hybrid version will also be sold alongside various petrol and diesel models
