Avoid at All Costs – Worst Experience with a Car Dealer I purchased a vehicle from this dealership in January 2025 — a Hyundai Tucson with Reg FV17UJS — I noticed the car began having issues pretty soon after purchase. It was drinking oil and coolant at an alarming rate, and I contacted the dealership immediately. I took it back in week 5, and 6 and although they topped up the oil twice in just two weeks, they claimed there was “nothing wrong” with it and insisted there were no faults with the car. I had to drive to the dealership 1.5hrs away 2 times to get it diagnosed and fixed. Both times I was sat waiting around at reception much longer than I should have been. I also had a dash cam on the car and for long periods of time my car was left with no one checking or fixing it, whilst I waited. They also drove my car whilst on the phone, and spoke about issues with the steering which they were going to hide from me (all on dash cam) .They failed to fix any of the faults with the car. I said I want to return the car but I gave them a second chance when they offered a courtesy car, which turned out to be a tiny 3-door 1-litre car that was completely unfit for my work. It was uncomfortable, unstable on the road, and had a serious steering fault — the steering wheel had to be turned left just to drive straight. Completely unsafe. Communication throughout was terrible. They kept my car for over 3 weeks and I had to constantly chase them for updates. They eventually stopped communicating all together, I eventually got back in contact with them, after sending a physical letter and threatening legal action. And they still failed to diagnose the issue after 3 weeks, saying they are still looking in to it. The only reason they finally agreed to a refund was after I formally rejected the vehicle and said I would take legal action. But they said it was out of ‘goodwill’ Even then, they refused to refund the warranty I purchased through them and deducted £1,000 from my refund — all while continuing to deny anything was wrong with the car. I had to go through Trading standards and I knew my rights. To top it all off, they wasted my entire day on collection. They originally said that I had to return the courtesy car which I refused, eventually they agreed to come and pick it up. They said they’d come at 1pm, then changed to 3pm, and finally turned up around 5pm. They then only transferred £5,000, saying that’s all they could do at the time. and asking for the keys to the courtesy car, I refused to give them the car till I received all my money. I had to wait another hour to get the remaining money. They claim to be offering “good customer service” but my experience was the opposite: poor communication, lack of accountability, and no transparency. I was left out of pocket from insurance, car tax, postage, and travel expenses because of their delays and dishonesty. If you’re considering buying from them — don’t. And if you’re looking at vehicle FV17UJS, beware. This car had serious oil consumption issues that they refused to acknowledge, and they dismissed every concern I raised.
