The ASX is the manufacturer’s entry vehicle - their baby SUV. This is a B segment SUV which means its a small hatchback sized vehicle with better ground clearance and better ride height. Try not to think of this as an overgrown hatchback though, because in reality it is a compacted version of a Mitsubishi SUV, so you get 4 wheel drive as an option, extra ruggedness in the cabin and a proper SUV experience. The next level in the SUV ladder is occupied by the all-new Eclipse Cross which was released in 2019. With its sloped rear quarter, you immediately get the impression that the Eclipse Cross has a bit more panache than its Mitsubishi siblings. The lower half of the Eclipse Cross is as rugged and ready as you would expect for a Mitsubishi SUV, with 4 wheel drive being an option, whereas a bit more creative freedom has been exerted during the design process of the top half and front grille. Despite the sloping roofline buyers will be happy with the interior space because the Eclipse Cross has a longer wheelbase than most competitors, meaning the cabin has more space than you would imagine. Ok, this is a pick-up truck, but pick-ups are becoming increasingly popular in the UK and this one has a lot to offer. As well as being excellent value, the L200 can tow up to 3.5 tonnes, which is more than the Volkswagen Amarok and the Fiat FullBack. The L200 is powered by a meaty 2.2-litre direct injection diesel engine and 4 wheel drive is included as standard on all L200 models. The L200 first went on sale back in 1980, so Mitsubishi knows a thing or two about creating honest, affordable and hard-working pickup trucks thanks to their 40 years of knowledge. The Shogun was an irreplaceable enigma. By all accounts, it was a car that was out of date long before production ceased, but its cult-like following ensured that it was still appreciated for its raw dependability and simplicity.
