How Real Time Traffic Information works
BMW ConnectedDrive Real Time Traffic Information is the cost effective, practical, and time saving service you can test for a month for £1 via Black Friday 2018. Its purpose is to help you avoid traffic congestion, reach your destinations faster, and reduce stress. You can then spend more time enjoying the open road.
Real Time Traffic Information comes via the large, prominent, screen in the centre of your dashboard. Simply:
- Select ‘navigation’ from the main menu
- Pick ‘map views’ from the icons that appear on the left
- Activate ‘traffic information map’
The map now confirms where there is traffic congestion on your planned route via a range of colours. Red indicates the most significant, for instance. Such conclusions are based on global positioning speed data from smartphones, fleets of vehicles and taxis. BMW says its data is accurate ‘within a few hundred metres’.
Perhaps, for example, the service concludes there is congestion on your expected route due to a breakdown. It therefore suggests alternatives and how much time each saves. Simply select any preferred route then the satellite navigation talks you around the delay. Your BMW Real Time Traffic Information has further benefits:
