The Bugatti Brouillard is named after Ettore Bugatti’s favourite horse, ‘Brouillard’ – a quick and intelligent animal reputedly able to open its own stable door. This one-off, coach-built hypercar carries that name forward, delivering an extraordinary 1,578bhp from the ultimate evolution of Bugatti’s W16 engine.
While Bugatti has retired its W16 powertrain from series production, the Brouillard launches the new Solitaire programme. This service transforms existing client cars into fully bespoke creations with hand-crafted coachwork, echoing the brand’s historic approach from the Type 57 era.
Based on the Mistral, the Brouillard incorporates design influences from the Divo and La Voiture Noire. Aerodynamics define the body, with large front intakes feeding air to the W16’s ten radiators for optimal cooling. Side blades behind the front wheels reference the Divo, while a fixed ducktail wing and roof scoops add both visual drama and aerodynamic stability. A custom rear diffuser and reworked exhaust layout push the W16 platform to its highest level of refinement.
The interior is equally bespoke, blending embroidered horse motifs, custom tartan upholstery, leather accents, green-tinted carbon fibre, machined aluminium, and glass elements. The car reflects its owner’s personal passions: as well as being a Bugatti enthusiast, they collect furniture designed by Ettore’s father, Carlo, and sculptures by his brother, Rembrandt.
Production will be extremely limited, with only two Solitaire cars made each year. This ensures each commission receives complete design attention and craftsmanship, making it even more exclusive than Bugatti’s Sur Mesure programme.
