Half of Gen Z drivers name their cars – Can you guess the favourite?

Nearly half (47%) of Gen Z drivers in the UK have nicknames for their cars. According to research by Honda UK, names like 'Baby', 'Babe', and even 'Rocket' are some of the favourites.

This trend isn’t just about being cute; it’s about creating a bond with your ride. While most UK drivers (77%) stick to calling it just a 'car', younger drivers love adding personality to their wheels. Popular choices include nostalgic names like 'Herbie' or quirky ones like 'Beast'. Why? Drivers say it deepens their emotional connection, making every trip feel more personal.

The survey also uncovered what sparks the most nostalgia for UK drivers. For Millennials, it’s all about music—46% say certain songs bring back memories of their early driving days. Meanwhile, Baby Boomers get hit with nostalgia when they see classic cars or think about the old-school days of paper maps.

For younger drivers aged 18 to 25, it’s often the simple moments that stick—29% feel nostalgic about rolling the windows down and feeling the breeze.

And the vibes vary across the UK! Londoners (48%) are triggered by songs and genres, while East Midlands drivers (40%) are all about familiar routes. In the South East, it’s the company during drives that brings back good times for 33%.

So, do you have a nickname for your car? Or maybe a song that takes you back to epic road trip vibes? Drop your favorites in the comments below!
