Introducing the China-only Audi E5: Up to 478 Miles on a Single Charge

Audi has just unveiled its new E5 Sportback at the 2025 Shanghai Motor Show — a sleek, fully-electric model designed exclusively for the Chinese market. First previewed as a prototype, the E5 is now a full production vehicle. It’s a fastback-style EV, slightly longer than a Q6 but shorter than a Q7, built on a new “Advanced Digitised Platform” developed in partnership with SAIC.

The E5 comes in four performance variants, ranging from 295bhp to a staggering 776bhp. The top-spec version features Audi’s quattro all-wheel drive system and can sprint from 0 to 62mph in just 3.4 seconds — putting it firmly in high-performance territory.

Every E5 is powered by a 100kWh battery and benefits from 800V charging tech, enabling up to 230 miles of range in just 10 minutes of charging. Overall range is a claimed 478 miles — a figure that positions it as a serious long-distance EV contender.

Other premium features include adaptive air suspension and all-wheel steering, promising a smooth and composed ride. This is Audi's latest statement of intent in the electric space — bold, fast, and built with China in mind.
