The Lexus LFA returns as a fully electric supercar with cutting-edge design and tech

The Lexus LFA is back – now fully electric

The next Lexus supercar is here as a concept, following in the footsteps of the classic 2000GT and the original V10 LFA - but this time, it’s electric.

Formerly known as the Lexus Sports Concept, it’s now officially the Lexus LFA Concept. For years, enthusiasts suspected it would be fully electric, and now Lexus has confirmed it. Expect the familiar triangular design cues, but powered entirely by batteries.

The new LFA shares core technologies with the Toyota Gazoo Racing GR GT and GR GT3. But Lexus is using this platform to explore what’s truly possible with a full-electric supercar.

If you think the LFA name should be reserved for V10, naturally aspirated engines, Lexus disagrees. The company says: “The LFA name isn’t tied to internal combustion. It represents a vehicle that preserves and passes on cutting-edge technologies to the next generation.”

The upcoming LFA will use the same all-aluminium frame and chassis as the GR GT and GT3, but with a more sculptural, refined body. It remains a two-seater with a long bonnet and Kamm tail, blending style with performance. Solid-state batteries could offer up to three times the energy density of current lithium-ion tech, promising huge power. But above all, the future LFA will be an exclusive, road-ready supercar.
