Marking Jaguar’s 70th birthday in true style the brand has announced a raft of ‘Chequered Flag’ models to celebrate the occasion.

Currently, the models included are the XF, F-PACE and F-Type, although the big cat could yet add more to the line-up.

F-Type Chequered Flag

First to be announced was the F-Type, this special edition is based on the R-Dynamic trim level and can be had in both coupe and convertible form. There are a range of special additions both internally and externally to denote the Chequered Flag model.

On the outside, you’ll find the black design pack which also includes the SVO extended side sills. You’ll even notice the sizeable 20-inch gloss black alloys with a diamond finish, sitting behind those are red brake calipers. The exterior black detailing is matched with ebony Windsor leather featuring contrasting grey or red stitching on the performance seats. Red seat belts finish the look along with embossed Chequered Flag branding on the headrests.

There’s also dark aluminium trim throughout the dash and Jag have thrown in their Touch Pro infotainment system with Meridian audio. This is the first time the F-Type has benefited from Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

You can either choose from the 300PS 2.0 litre four-cylinder engine or the 340PS and 380PS 3.0 litre supercharged V6.

Prices start from £62,335.

Released into the wild a few months later were the XF editions, these can be chosen in either saloon or Sportbrake estate form.

Here you’ll find unique Chequered Flag badging on the side vents along with the sportier, more imposing front bumper. Again, the black pack with body coloured side sills has been added so has a boot spoiler and 18-inch gloss black ‘Chalice’ wheels. You can pick the XF in three exterior colours, Yulong White, Santorini Black or Eiger Grey.

As with the F-Type inside has also received some special treatment, there’s Chequered Flag badging on the treadplates, dark aluminium across the centre console with the R-Sport full leather interior. You can opt for black on black, or black on red to jazz up the interior slightly.

Jag have also given these special editions the most popular features selected across the XF range. Those included the Navigation Pro with InControl Connect Pro, you can get live traffic updates or send routes from your PC or phone to the car, as well as sharing your ETA with others. The 12.3-inch TFT dials are also present as is keyless entry.

Engine wise you can pick from the 250PS or 300PS 2.0 litre petrol in both rear and all-wheel drive. Diesel buyers are catered for thanks to the 180PS 2.0 litre in rear wheel or all-wheel drive, the 240 PS with AWD or the big 3.0 litre V6 with 300PS in rear wheel form.
