TL;DR The facelifted Mercedes-Maybach S-Class redefines luxury with a V12 engine (select markets), massive illuminated grille, pillar-to-pillar Superscreen dashboard, rear armchair seating with 13.1-inch displays, champagne-ready refrigerated compartment, and over 150 exterior paints plus 400 interior colour options. Bespoke interiors are possible via the Manufaktur Made to Measure programme.
The Mercedes-Maybach S-Class has arrived, bringing the pinnacle of luxury and, yes, a V12 engine, though not in every market.
If the standard S-Class feels a little tame, the Maybach edition immediately steps things up. On the outside, the signature Maybach grille grows by 20% and now glows, along with the three-pointed star atop the bonnet and the Maybach emblem on the C-pillar. The headlights feature a rose-gold finish, and the forged wheels available in 20- or 21-inch sizes have self-levelling centre caps.
Inside, the magic truly begins. Doors open and close at the touch of a button, revealing a cabin centred around Mercedes’ pillar-to-pillar Superscreen dashboard. This includes a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, 14.4-inch central touchscreen, and a 12.3-inch passenger display, practically a wall of screens.
The rear seats are designed like armchairs, each with a 13.1-inch display and a redesigned centre console featuring remote controls and cupholders that perfectly fit silver-plated Robbe & Berking champagne flutes. A 10-litre refrigerated compartment is also included for drinks, ensuring that celebrations or quiet indulgence are never interrupted.
Customisation is next-level: over 150 exterior paint options and 400 interior colours are available, with a leather-free interior option debuting. The “Manufaktur Made to Measure” programme allows buyers to create almost any interior they desire.
Under the bonnet, powertrain options range from a 6.0-litre V12 (select markets) to a 4.0-litre V8 mild hybrid, and a 3.0-litre straight-six plug-in hybrid, which offers over 60 miles of electric range.
Price hasn’t been officially announced, but if you have to ask, it’s clearly reserved for those with deep pockets.
