Fresh styling
The 2021 SEAT Arona is distinguished from its predecessor by the exterior styling. Obvious changes include the revised grille pattern, rear spoiler, rear diffuser, and the three new wheel designs. LED lighting is standard on every trim, too. The trims are: SE, SE Technology, FR, FR Sport, Xperience, and Xperience Lux.
There are further changes. ‘Arona’ lettering on the car’s rear looks handwritten, the manufacturer’s logo has a two-tone finish, and there are new paint colours: Sapphire Blue, Asphalt Blue, and Dark Camouflage. Whatever the chosen colour, the vehicle has a contrasting Candy White finish on its roof.
Revised interior
The interior has had a fresh look too. Changes include the infotainment system that sits higher on the dashboard so it is easier to see. This system’s features vary by trim. SE trim features include the 8.2” screen, digital radio, and phone integration. The phone app reveals where the car is parked, enables you to lock it remotely, tells you if somebody breaks in, and more.
The SE Technology and higher has a more capable system with a larger, 9.2”, screen. Extras include online traffic information, route calculation, and automatic emergency call if there is a collision. The system also confirms where to find petrol stations.
Other Arona interior tweaks that make it stand out from its predecessor include a softer dashboard that feels more upmarket, illuminated air vent surrounds that look striking, and interior lights for the rear passengers mounted to the ceiling. SEAT suggested that there is a ‘heightened sense of quality throughout’.
New technology
The SEAT Arona has new technology for 2021, too. Travel Assist is a highlight as it lets the car drive semi-autonomously in some scenarios. Once active, the vehicle scans its surroundings with sensors then adjusts its speed to maintain a safe distance to the traffic ahead. In also checks its position relative to the lane marks via a camera behind the windscreen, then steers accordingly.
Engines, gearboxes, prices
The Arona is available with three petrol powertrains. The 1.0 TSI 95PS engine is entry level and teamed with five-speed manual transmission. The 1.0 TSI 110PS comes with a six-speed manual or seven-speed auto gearbox. Finally, the 1.5 TSI 150PS is bolted to seven-speed auto transmission. Prices range from £19,260 to £25,835.
