Like the rest of us, he isn’t allowed to park on double-yellows but will he get a fine?

One rule for one? Khan’s entourage park on double-yellows

Two Range Rovers, one transporting The Mayor of London and one seemingly his support vehicle, have been spotted parking on double-yellow lines for at least an hour in Islington.

The fine-happy mayor who is appears to be intent on extracting as much money from ordinary Londoners as possible to simply use their car was more than happy to flout the rules while taking a morning stroll.

Witnesses have told reporters that there were drivers waiting in the 4x4 and the engines were switched off.

A spokesperson for the Mayor of London said: 'As stipulated by government security officials, in exactly the same way as the PM and other Cabinet Ministers, Sadiq has round the clock police protection due to credible threats to life. These are Met issue protection vehicles.'

But this does not excuse the fact that he shouldn’t be parking on double-yellows. According to the police themselves; ‘Double yellow lines mean no waiting at any time, unless there are signs that specifically indicate seasonal or time restrictions.’

The Highway Code also states; ‘Traffic laws apply to everyone, even police cars. The police are only allowed to stop on double yellows if they are dealing with a motorist or attending an emergency.’

Mr Khan has come under fire continuously during his time as Mayor of London for a string of controversial decisions and poor money management, but it’s his ULEZ expansion that is proving to be one of his most contentious schemes.

He was accused earlier this year of manipulating a consultation to support the scheme after it emerged more than 5,200 votes from the FairFuelUK motoring campaign had been discounted.

Do you think he’ll end up getting a fine for flouting double-yellows? No, us neither.
