In 2019 the famous MINI brand that we all know and love hits the big six-zero years old. To mark the occasion MINI are releasing 60 Years Edition of the MINI Hatchback and it’s got all the traits that we adore about the MINI. It comes factory-fitted with the exquisite go-kart handling that helped the MINI become so highly thought of and of course, it boasts the iconic styling that makes the MINI immediately identifiable.
Better still, the MINI 60 Years Edition will come in a gorgeous and historic British Racing Green. Classy, to say the least.
Inside the MINI, the upholstery has been upgraded to a full, exclusive ‘Cacao’ leather package. This has been taken out of the ‘MINI Yours Leather Lounge’ and it comes with contrast green piping and stitching.
The multi-function steering wheel has also been wrapped in a bespoke leather and emblazoned with the unique ‘60 Years Edition’ emblem, which can also be found on the shoulders of the front seats. Also, as standard, this exclusive model comes with the Navigation pack which means you get a big 8.8 touch screen, Apple Car Play, Bluetooth connectivity, wireless charging and MINI concierge service.
In addition to this, every car will come with a rearview camera, electrically folding mirrors as well as front and rear Parking Distance Control functionality. Honestly, if you’ve got a licence, you’ll be able to park this without any qualms.
On the exterior, the MINI has been given contrasting black racing stripes which sit beautifully against the deep racing green paintwork, and within those stripes is more eye-catching 60 Year Edition badgework. Furthermore, there is another logo embellished on the side scuttle, around the indicator lights in front of the 2 doors. The new badgework is pretty good-looking and MINI have done a good job of making sure it can’t be missed.
Last but not least, probably the most notable exterior feature would be the limited edition 60 Years alloys. These two-tone wheels are 17 inches in size and will soon be immediately recognizable thanks to their unique design. They will not be available on any other MINI’s.
In terms of the performance, the 60 Years Edition is a top performing Cooper S model so expect plenty of grunt from underneath the bonnet. The 0-60 mph time is just 6.7 seconds, which is particularly quick for a car of this size.
The MINI 60 Years Edition will be limited to just 500 models and they’ll be going on sale in March 2019 with prices starting from £29,990. That’s not a particularly cheap starting price by any stretch of the imagination, but with it being such a limited run of cars, the 60 Years Edition may have the potential to appreciate in value if treated well over time.
