We strongly believe in giving cars names that are easy for consumers to pronounce. That brings us to the Honda e:Ny1 to say it correctly, you have to pronounce each letter and digit separately—there’s no shortcut like “e” here, and anyone who tries will be quickly corrected.
The e:Ny1 is Honda’s second fully electric vehicle, following the logically named Honda e, and it’s a five-door compact SUV in the B segment.
While Honda claims the e:Ny1 is aimed at a younger audience, the initial launch price of over £47,000 suggests otherwise. However, just a few months later, we’re seeing a £5,000 price drop and some attractive financing options designed to bring new customers into the fold.
The updated pricing structure for the Honda e:Ny1 now places the Elegance model at £39,995 and the Advance model at £42,195, offering potential buyers a £5,000 savings.
Additionally, there are several financial incentives that make owning an EV even more appealing. These include exemptions from road tax, Congestion Charge fees, and Ultra Low Emission Zone charges. Unlike owners of internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles priced over £40,000, who are hit with a premium car tax for five years, EV buyers are exempt from this levy.
The Honda e:Ny1 is equipped with a powerful 68.8kWh battery that powers a single motor, delivering 204PS and 310Nm of torque. This setup provides solid performance, allowing the car to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 7.6 seconds, with a top speed of 99 mph. Under WLTP testing, the e:Ny1 offers a driving range of up to 256 miles on a single charge.
The e:Ny1 looks stylish without being flashy, is packed with modern technology without being over-complicated and it drives beautifully without pinning you to your seat back.
