JIA unveils its all-new Jensen Interceptor – a bespoke British GT with V8 power, aluminium construction and handcrafted luxury design.

Jensen International Automotive (JIA), the British firm known for rebuilding and re-engineering the legendary Jensen Interceptor, has announced plans to create a brand-new, fully bespoke version for the modern era. A teaser image shows a sleek fastback silhouette, hinting that this bold project could bring the iconic British marque back to life and even rival brands like Bentley, Rolls-Royce, and Jaguar.

While official details are still under wraps, JIA has confirmed the new car will feature an aluminium chassis and a front-mounted V8 under its long bonnet. Crucially, both the chassis and engine are being designed in-house, something even the original Interceptor didn’t achieve. That model, built between 1966 and 1976, gained fame as the “British GT with an American heart,” powered by a Chrysler V8. This time, JIA’s starting from scratch, aiming for a fully analogue, driver-focused grand tourer built for purists.

The company says the car will be an “ultra-luxurious GT,” suggesting a cabin that blends top-tier materials with British craftsmanship. Whether that means classic wood and leather or a more modern spin on luxury is still under wraps.

JIA’s Managing Director, David Duerden, explained: “Taking the theme of the luxury British GT to fresh, thoroughly modern heights, JIA’s first car is designed and engineered from the ground up to deliver an unmatched, deeply immersive, V8-powered driving experience. While it takes inspiration from the Jensen Interceptor launched 60 years ago, this is certainly no ‘restomod’ or ‘continuation’ and will stand proudly as a completely all-new car in its own right.”

The teaser image gives away a few clues, including a clean fastback shape and a spacious four-seat layout. It’s less dramatic than the upcoming electric Jaguar GT but still serious enough to signal intent.

There’s not much else to go on just yet, but JIA promises more news soon, and if the teaser’s anything to judge by, it’ll be worth the wait.
