Ferrari has revived the iconic Testarossa name for its latest hybrid flagship. The 849 Testarossa blends cutting-edge performance, bold design and advanced technology, offering a clear glimpse at the future of Ferrari’s supercars.

Ferrari has brought back one of its most famous names with the 849 Testarossa, a new flagship supercar that replaces the SF90 Stradale. This isn’t a retro remake, though. Instead, Ferrari is using the Testarossa name to introduce its next step into the hybrid era.

The result is a car that mixes extreme performance, modern design and advanced technology - while still carrying the weight of Ferrari history.

A new flagship for a new era

The 849 Testarossa sits at the top of Ferrari’s road car range. It’s designed to show what the brand can do right now, both in terms of speed and technology.

Like many modern supercars, it uses hybrid power. Ferrari says this setup isn’t about saving fuel first - it’s about making the car faster, sharper and more responsive in real-world driving.

Hybrid power and serious performance

Power comes from a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8, combined with three electric motors. Two of those motors sit at the front, while another supports the engine at the rear. Together, they produce more than 1,000 horsepower.

That translates into huge performance. Ferrari claims the 849 Testarossa can accelerate from 0–62mph in just over two seconds, with a top speed above 200mph. The electric motors also help deliver instant acceleration, removing turbo lag and improving traction.

There’s also a short-range electric-only mode, allowing the car to drive quietly at low speeds when needed.

Bold design without going retro

Despite the famous name, the 849 Testarossa does not try to copy the original car from the 1980s. Instead, Ferrari has taken a modern approach, with sharp lines, strong shapes and a very wide stance.

Details like vertical air channels, slim lighting and an aggressive rear design give the car a futuristic look. It’s clearly designed for performance first, with aerodynamics playing a big role in the overall shape.

Inside, the cabin is focused on the driver. Controls are kept close, screens are built into the dashboard, and most functions are designed to be used without taking your eyes off the road.

Technology that works in the background

The 849 Testarossa is packed with technology, but much of it works quietly behind the scenes. Ferrari’s latest control systems constantly adjust traction, braking and suspension to suit the road and driving conditions.

This means the car should feel more stable and predictable, even at high speeds. Optional track-focused upgrades are also available for drivers who want a sharper setup and reduced weight.

What the 849 Testarossa means for Ferrari

The 849 Testarossa is a clear sign of where Ferrari is heading. It shows how the brand plans to use hybrid technology to increase performance, rather than dilute it.

While the name carries a lot of history, this car is firmly focused on the future. It’s fast, complex and highly advanced - and it sets the tone for Ferrari’s next generation of flagship supercars.
