MG made serious moves at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed. Forget what you think you know about this brand, MG’s gone full future-mode, dropping two ultra-high-tech EVs that scream innovation and performance: the MG IM5 and MG IM6.
These aren’t just electric cars, they’re smart, fast, futuristic machines built to impress anyone who cares about tech, speed, or just looking good behind the wheel.
Meet the MG IM5 and IM6: Electric, Intelligent, Ridiculously Fast
Let’s start with the names. IM stands for Intelligence in Motion, and it’s more than just a buzzword. These cars are packing serious brainpower inside.
MG IM5 is a sleek executive saloon with Tesla-rivalling range and acceleration.
MG IM6 is a beefier, tech-loaded SUV built for performance with serious style.
If you're all about skipping fuel stations and charging fast, the IM5 with the Long Range 100kWh battery delivers up to 441 miles on a single charge and can juice up from 10% to 80% in just 17 minutes. And yes, it’s super fast - 0 to 62mph in 3.2 seconds (3.5 seconds for the SUV).
The Tech? Next-Level
Inside, MG is flexing with features you won’t find in most cars at this price:
- Rainy Night Mode for optimal visibility in bad weather
- One Touch Park Assist that handles even tricky parking for you
- Rear-wheel turning to help you U-turn in tight city streets
There’s a massive 26.3-inch infotainment screen paired with a 10.5-inch touchscreen. Add a 20-speaker sound system (with speakers in the ceiling) and a panoramic roof, and this thing starts to feel more like a lounge on wheels than a car.
How Much Are We Talking?
MG is keeping things competitive.
MG IM5 Saloon
- Standard (75kWh) – £39,450
- Long Range (100kWh) – £44,995
- Performance (100kWh) – £48,495
MG IM6 SUV
- Long Range (100kWh) – £47,995
- Performance (100kWh) – £50,995
- Launch Edition – £52,995
For what you’re getting tech- and performance-wise, this undercuts a lot of the premium EVs out there.
Bonus Drops: Cyberster Black and the Wild New Concept
MG also brought some serious eye candy to Goodwood.
Cyberster Black
The convertible that’s basically MG’s answer to a Batmobile. Now in a new ultra-deep black paint with sparkling glass particles, it looks matte when still and glimmers when moving. Slick chrome, all-black interior, pure vibes.
MG Cyber X Concept
A wild, urban explorer EV that looks straight out of a sci-fi movie. Pop-up headlights, matte grey finish, and a boxy silhouette make this one to watch. It’s only a concept for now, but it’s a clear peek into MG’s future design direction.
MG EX4
A retro rally throwback reimagined for 2025, based on the MG4 XPower. It’s MG’s homage to the 80s Metro 6R4, now fully electric and ready to tear up the track.
