The iCaur V23: A Retro-Inspired Electric Off-Roader Could Be Heading to the UK

The iCaur V23 is a compact, retro-styled electric SUV from Chery International, currently sold in China, where it starts at just under £11,000. It’s been available there for over a year, but now there's a strong possibility it could be launched in right-hand drive markets—including the UK.

iCaur is a relatively new brand under the Chery International group. In China, it operates under the name “iCar,” but the name has been adjusted for international markets. The V23 is designed to appeal to younger buyers who enjoy outdoor activities such as hiking, fishing, and exploring—or simply spending time in scenic settings.

The vehicle’s design is distinctly retro, with a boxy shape, rugged underbody protection, a full-length roof rack, enclosed front grille, and short overhangs.

If the model is released in the UK, some design modifications may be made to meet local market preferences and regulations.

Inside, the cabin follows a minimalist approach. It features just a few physical buttons for essential functions, a 15.4-inch multimedia touchscreen, and a freestanding phone holder. With the rear seats folded flat, the V23 offers up to 774 litres of boot space—ideal for active lifestyles and weekend getaways.

In China, the V23 is available with either a single rear-mounted motor (rear-wheel drive) or a dual-motor setup offering all-wheel drive and up to 208bhp. With its largest 82kWh battery, iCaur claims a range of more than 300 miles. It also comes with multi-link rear suspension and optional off-road tyres.

Prices in China range from just under £11,000 for the base model to around £15,000 for the top specification. While UK pricing would almost certainly be higher due to import costs and taxes, these figures highlight the V23’s strong value proposition.
