1.12 million Toyota vehicles are being recalled due to a possible airbag issue

Toyota has issued a recall for approximately 1 million vehicles, revealing on Wednesday that certain airbags may not deploy as intended.

The affected models, including the popular Sienna, RAV4, Corolla, and Camry, that were manufactured between 2020 and 2022.

See the full list of models here:

Toyota Year
Avalon, Avalon Hybrid (2020-2021)
Camry, Camry Hybrid (2020-2022)
Corolla (2020-2021)
Highlander, Highlander Hybrid (2020-2021)
RAV4, RAV4 Hybrid (2020-2021)
Sienna Hybrid (2021)
Lexus Year
ES250 (2021)
ES300H (2020-2022)
ES350 (2020-2021)
RX350 (2020-2021)
RX450h (2020-2021)

The recall focuses on Toyota and Lexus vehicles equipped with passenger seat sensors that may have been improperly manufactured. A malfunction in these sensors could result in failure to register the passenger's weight, potentially preventing airbag deployment in a crash.

Toyota plans to notify owners of the affected vehicles by mid-February 2024 and encourages them to have the faulty sensor inspected and replaced, if necessary, at a Toyota or Lexus dealership.

Alternatively, owners can check their Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) or registration number information on the Toyota recall website or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration site.

This recall follows a recent announcement by Toyota recalling 750,000 vehicles in the U.S. due to a connector issue affecting the bumper attachment.
