The major link bridge connecting Essex and Kent remains closed for a second day after the now infamous Just Stop Oil group continued to frustrate commuters in and around London.
The closure of the Dartford Crossing, formally known as the QEII Bridge, lead to six miles of congestion yesterday morning leading to delays of two hours and more for people looking to make it to work.
It’s now expected motorists will face similar disruption today as Essex Police say the complexity of the operation to remove the protestors mean it’s not likely to reach a conclusion any time soon.
The group has been carrying out protests for well over two years and for the vast majority of their stunts commuters take the brunt of the pain.
More recently however, the group has taken to serious vandalism to try and make their point with an Aston Martin garage being decorated with orange paint and a Van Gogh painting covered in tomato soup.
A spokesperson for Just Stop Oil told the PA news agency: "They're not going to come down in the dark, and the bridge is still closed," she said.
"So they will have closed the M25 for over 24 hours, at least.
"My understanding is that they are going to stay up there until they're brought down, that's my understanding at the moment.
"I don't know how they're going to be brought down, and I'm not sure the police do either at the moment."
